BMC are a mess of a team organisationally. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians. Pozzato said he'd rather ride for Farnese Vini that BMC because everyone knew their role there, and you can see why. Astana are the opposite of BMC - lots of guys who can chance it, but no real strong leaders for the GTs, I think it's a perfect fit. He might have to scale back his ambitions for the Ardennes in terms of support, but his ride in LBL would actually have worked with the Astana boys.

" BMC are a mess" ---- as evidenced by last years catastrophe of a Tour de France...

Cadel was fantastic last July. Was there any situation where his domestiques really covered themselves in glory? Posthuma and Monfort were great for Schleck on stage 18 - Cadel was very isolated that day.

Fair call ..... maybe i am assuming he had more help than was actually the case.....

Being Australian I should probably be giving HIM more credit than the TEAM for the great result.

Duly noted. :)

So how desperate are Ag2r for points? Their cheque book isn't the smallest in sport by a long way and they can't ride their way out of oblivion.

Seriously, Nibbles needs to stay in lime green, it's part of the natural order of the universe. Nibali leaving Liquigas would be like Valverde riding for Radioshack.

Gadret will win il Giro and raise AG2R in TDf and Vuelta to the nr. 1 place of teams ranking:D

Wasn't Sagan goin to OPQS? or was this wishfull thinking.
If he wants to leave please not at BMC, he will suck big at BMC.

You do not know that he would suck at BMC, he would have a great team to support him- though he already does at Liquigas.

Why wishful, Sagan has gone so well at Liquigas- I don't like the idea of him going to a team that rejected him in the past- where he could end up going badly ( for a while ).

They didn't have money to buy him and he didn't speak a word in English, so they couldn't communicate with him. Michal Kwiatkowski had similar tests that day and they bought him this year.

it's good for liquigas as nibali only held down sagan. see msr for instance that he would've won if nibali wasn't such an ego. so for liquigas it's better in the long run. what is bad though is they lose an italian leader

nibali isn't such a big ego as you make it look. He did a lot of work for sagan at the ToP last year and this year in cali.

It's also easy to coment with hindsight but it is not very commun for an atack at the poggio to make it all the way to the end and 90% of times all it does is drop some sprinters because of the pace being increased.

In fact of all the "major" GC leaders, Nibali may well be the one who is most willing to work for his team mates when they have a better shout. If he's in a race, he either races to win it or he puts in work for someone else. He doesn't seem to like the sitting around in the pack doing nothing approach to building form.

In any case Basso publically restated after the final ITT in Giro that he was committed to play super-domestique for Nibali at the TdF - which isn't such bad service.

It's ridiculous to send Nibs to the US to prepare for the Tour, though.
Even lance acclimatised in Europe before the Tour.
