astanafans.com is media.

they have provided a wealth of information about astana and vino that turned out to be100% true and could not be found in any other source.

they were the first to bring up the power struggle between vino and the new management. sure enough, as i showed above, yesterday's article in l'equipe confirmed that.

the fact that there is an ongoing difference of opinions within the site's admins and that we're let know of it, is healthy imo. it parallels the many opinions among vino/astana fans.

By this we are to take it you mean that Vino is literally causing them to lose face by ripping said faces off of the skulls they're attached to? Just wanted to clear that up... ;)

sounds scary :). however vino is rumored to become a new General Manager of the team and the financial guy to be replaced with another financial specialist according to the astanafans media (see comments in the relevant thread). Not sure about the timing but Vino is to give a press conference today.

you're 100% on the mark here.

the rumour mill reports that the vino press-conference started about 45 minutes ago…supposedly vino has won a decisive victory !

the money man he has fought is going back to his office job with the sponsor he held previously …vino will be the general manager calling the shots together with martinelli (but still riding for a while), kash has a contract and will be staying...

i'm sure we'll here more very soon as the astanafans.com has sent someone to the press conference.

Vino stays for 2012!!!

At least it's alrready confirmed by Vino he stays in races for 2012!!!
I hope our guys will inform us about other news soon

He will focus on Spring classics, the Tour de France most likely will not be included in Vino's plans. For sure Roman Kreuziger is next year Astana's leader for TdF.

kreuziger don't enjoy yourself because it won't happen.vino for maillot jaune!

It was decided that Vino will be included in management team, all matters relating to personnel, races etc. will be in his sphere of operations.

i hope astana has some money right now because they kind of need some transfers.

This is the best thing that could happen to Astana. They need Vino in charge of that team. Vino will turn out to be a Bjarne Riis type - an ex-rider who can motivate his riders and run a team well. He's already been coaching young athletes in France/Monaco, and working on plans for builing a training center.

And it was obvious that the money man didn't really understand cycling. That press conference where they announced Kash's return to the team was a joke. Standing up there talking about a top-5 in the Vuelta, when Kash hadn't ridden much all year, was silly. Posing with an oversize fan's T-shirt like you can't even get hold of a team jersey for the big announcement. It just made the team look like they didn't know what they were doing.

Things will be much better with Vino and Martinelli in charge - guys who understand the sport. This is very good news for Astana, IMO.

an extended interview with vino.
http://translate.google.com/transla...ot-svoej-strany.html&sl=ru&tl=en&hl=&ie=UTF-8

some interesting passages i managed to decipher after google descrambler

-It's all nonsense about some corrupt schemes perpetrated by me. A dirty PR.

- it was necessary to resolve all questions about my status NOW, because time was not on my side. All papers had to be submitted to the uci until the end of September and our sponsor "Samuryk Kazyna" had to make bank guarantees. We wanted to avoid delays of the last year.

- I am not yet the chief manager of the team, as I’d like to be after in retirement. I do not have the mandate to manage…
- if we were able to sign up gilbert, I would not have to change my mind about the retirement b/c we’d have plenty of the uci points….
- kash ? He should just come down to earth. then we can work together. And before we talk about his leadership, he must first prove a thing. We all saw what happened at the "Vuelta". No results, no points. Why was the rush?

- Even if we take for instance your question about the rumors related to corruption cases in the team. I could say goodbye to everyone and move to the same "Katyusha". But I was born here..
- I can say that our transfer policy this year was a tad under the mark. I need 2 years to built a new team
