your average vino interview,of course his english is bad,the questions pretty much all were already answered by vino in the press.tan is *** as always.
it is excruciating if you didn't hear until now a vino interview in french, english or italian.otherwise no,just an average 3 minutes interview.

Have you watched the VeloNews interview of Vino? I am not a fan of the author/interviewer, Anthony Tan, and the fact that he describes the interview as excruciating is a turn-off, as the only one who it could've been excruciating for was Vino, having to talk to Tan. I couldn't bring myself to watch it... Here's the link:

Is it worth suffering through?
It's terrible. "Excruciating"... well, then learn your languages, idiot. Vino is much more fluent in French, and if you want to be a serious cycling journalist, you need to be able to do an interview in French.

Not that his interviews with actual English speakers are much better.

The original Vino4-ever gear (what Vino wore in his comeback race) was being sold by a Frenchman, I think. Not sure if he's still distributing the stuff or not. I'll see if I can find his details. I'd like to do an updated version ;)

I watched the interview - why Tan characterizes Vino as petulant I have absolutely no idea. Vino is speaking in his fourth (?) language and the one he speaks worst of all, certainly not his fault. Not to mention being a bit distracted by the circumstances - getting ready to ride in a race...

Maybe if Tan had asked better questions the interview would have gone better.

And why the swipe at him for crying when he announced his retirement? Geez - that happens frequently in the sports world. Some baseball player just did exactly the same thing. Cycling is the guy's life, not just a 9-5 job. How would Tan feel if he lost the ability to write?

Well, hopefully it works out for you, cause I'll definitely be on the lookout for getting it. Hopefully not just the jerseys

These are all good points. Tan follows me on Twitter so I called him out on what I think was his unfair treatment of Vino, which bordered on disrespect or was at least mocking...

Anything to do with anthony tan is terrible..muppets like him gets to be a cycling journalist...ridiculous, i tell ya

Journalists who fail to get good copy from their subjects and then try to turn it around and blame it on them - never mind complaining about them in the lead to the interview (!!!) - it never ceases to amaze me the lengths to which people will go to avoid taking personal responsibility for their actions. (lol Vino excepted, of course! haha in all fairness ;)

+1 LOL

This Shows Vino's Class & Professionalism

The haters will automatically choke on my suggesting that Vino has "class," but I believe he most certainly does, and thankfully Steve at http://www.steephill.tv thinks so too, at least going by his captioning:

"Alexandr Vinokurov (Astana) still hasn't found his form, but he still has time for his fans. He was 72nd today more than 12 minutes back"

I didn't realize Vino was struggling that far back (12min loss today). But then I checked the results and saw there were like 50 guys who finished further back than he did, and Jonathan Tiernan-Locke even abandoned (no disrespect to JTL, just looking to somehow boost Vino relatively lol).

Gasolina, heh.

Okay, seriously, let's hope that lunch was productive and we will see some of the Vino-esque action coming from Kes and Masciarelli.

Vino Update?

So, at least Vino is racing again at the top level in the Dauphiné, and one could spin positively the fact that he's carrying-on and suffering through this difficult period, continuing to build form by logging race miles. More worrying though is the fact that he finished today's stage in what could derisively be called the "Devolder Group" - and anyone who knows of the Belgian's struggles these past several years to establish any kind of condition for riding the Tour understands my concern:

105 Simon Gerrans (Aus) Orica GreenEdge 0:02:05
106 Simon Clarke (Aus) Orica GreenEdge
107 Ricardo Garcia Ambroa (Spa) Euskaltel - Euskadi
108 Matthew Lloyd (Aus) Lampre - ISD
109 Lieuwe Westra (Ned) Vacansoleil-Dcm Pro Cycling Team
110 Wesley Sulzberger (Aus) Orica GreenEdge
111 Edvald Boasson Hagen (Nor) Sky Procycling
112 Mikael Cherel (Fra) AG2R La Mondiale
113 Hayden Roulston (NZl) Radioshack-Nissan
114 Daniel Teklehaimanot (Eri) Orica GreenEdge
115 Cyril Lemoine (Fra) Saur - Sojasun
116 Stijn Devolder (Bel) Vacansoleil-Dcm Pro Cycling Team
117 Jurgen Van De Walle (Bel) Lotto Belisol Team
118 Frederik Veuchelen (Bel) Vacansoleil-Dcm Pro Cycling Team
119 Gert Dockx (Bel) Lotto Belisol Team
120 Michael Schär (Swi) BMC Racing Team
121 Steve Morabito (Swi) BMC Racing Team
122 Amaël Moinard (Fra) BMC Racing Team
123 Bert Grabsch (Ger) Omega Pharma-Quickstep
124 John Degenkolb (Ger) Argos-Shimano
125 Anthony Delaplace (Fra) Saur - Sojasun
126 Alexandre Vinokourov (Kaz) Astana Pro Team
127 Maxim Iglinskiy (Kaz) Astana Pro Team
128 Yaroslav Popovych (Ukr) Radioshack-Nissan
129 Samuel Sanchez (Spa) Euskaltel - Euskadi
130 Manuel Quinziato (Ita) BMC Racing Team
131 David Tanner (Aus) Team Saxo Bank
132 David Arroyo (Spa) Movistar Team
133 Maxim Belkov (Rus) Katusha Team
134 Michel Kreder (Ned) Garmin - Barracuda
135 Borut Bozic (Slo) Astana Pro Team

On the plus side, the Devolder Group was also actually the "Popovych Group," and if the Kazakh follows the Ukrainian's method of Tour-preparation (which could also be referred to as the "Bruyneel Method"), then all hope might not be lost for a respectable performance in France and a not-embarrassing conclusion to the Golden Eagle's career.

Alternate Theory? It's not really Vino riding the Dauphiné, but rather, his doppelganger. Vino is actually on a secret training camp...

Thoughts?

This is what has happened to Vino:

Somehow, Vino's former bbf, now turned fierce rival Andrey Kashechkin has managed to magically transform Vinos powers over to himself.

That's why Kash attacked with the mighty Cadel Evans on stage 1, and finished comfortably in the 1 group today. In the long TT, he is gonna smash everybody to the ground and defend the leaders jersey through the race. Meanwhile, Vino is struggling with Kash crap form ala 2011, and the only meaningful thing he can do is to listen to Andy Schleck whine about Johan Bruyneel.

But don't worry, come July, Vino will be back in full force

HAHAHAHAHA!

+1,000,000!!!!

Let's hope indeed that Vino returns to his proper level in July, confiscates Thor's own "SMASH!"-powers, and wins a final Tour stage in epic, Vino-esque style!

we're getting close to the tour and grande vino is tranquillo, ready to prove once again that he's a god

a little bit more weight should be shed and he should be fine

Mon gros objectif c’est le Tour de France. L’important c’est d’être prêt pour le Tour, pas pour le Critérium du Dauphiné.

my biggest target is le tour.it's important to be ready for le tour, not for dauphine

Si je n’étais pas confiant, j’aurais arrêté le Dauphiné…. Oui je suis confiant, comme je viens de le dire, je sens la condition qui s’améliore de jour en jour.

if i wasn't confident about,i would have stopped at dauphine.yes i'm confident, just like i tell you,i feel the form is improving day by day.

Comme moi, l’équipe monte en puissance pour arriver en forme sur le prochain Tour de France. Il faudra compter sur nous.

like me,the team is improving to peak for le tour.count on us!!!

i know myself 100%,i know how to arrive in form when i have to.and you must keep in mind that in le tour,we don't start in the mountains so there still is time to improve the form.i'm not worried.

VINO for le tour overall victory? :D
it had to happen anyway

Vino Lives!

From our own Cyclingnews.com:

Vinokourov in Virenque's footsteps?

Astana captain Alexandre Vinokourov is as laid back as ever at the start of the Tour de France in Liège. To him, "it's already a victory to even be here." But of course the Kazakh rider also has stage-winning objectives, and could even reach for the polka-dot jersey of best climber.

"Liège is a particular town as I've already won Liège-Bastogne-Liège twice," he told L'Equipe. "So if my legs spin well... But I'm not saying I'll win on Sunday [on stage 1].

"I also think of showing good performances in the mountains later on. I think my form will be good in about ten days time, so we'll see. Perhaps I'll do something like Richard Virenque did in his time, attacking from very far away and taking the climber's jersey... We'll see!" added Vinokourov with a revealing smile.

Vino is God!

he looks good but i still doubt that it's 2010 good.

the massive thigh muscles are there so there is hope the stamina is there too.
as always the big heart is definitely in its place and vino will definitely entertain us this year too. a stage win and/or the maillot a pois would be just great. allez vinooo!
