Didnt he lose a sprint to Andy Schleck a few years ago :D

Andreas Kloden beat Sanchez in a sprint 2 years ago. Or was it last year? Tour de Basque it was.

Anyways nice entertaining stage today. Yesterday would've been great as well, unfortunately for the organisation the weather didn't work along.

Even more mind boggling. Pieter Weening beat Andreas Klöden in a sprint once.

So that pretty much puts Samuel Sanchez on the not-so-fast list

Very impressed by his sprint. Although was it Menchov in second? How did he get second?

Menchov has an underrated sprint. He aced di Luca in the 09 Giro convincingly

Didnt look like he celebrated, guess he might have lost his confidence after celebrating too early last year. Must have been knackered today at the finish, great ride with no team.

He's out there doing another lap just in case.

Tomorrow.

This. The climbers will have to absolutely bury him on the cat. 1 so that he can't get close enough again on the descent.

I'm sure the route was lamented over and over yesterday, but what were the organizers thinking? They put in just one stage that was likely to have much selection among the top riders and seeing as how it's March, they had to know there was a snow risk.

Again, that's unfair commentary. It has been beautiful weather there all winter. Even today riders who live there (in girona) reported to journalists that it was hot out there for weeks. In the winter they all train there without a problem.
It was really a freak occurence

That was a different kind of sprint though. This was more based on the fact that he was already in front, no possibility for faster guys like Cunego to make it from the back of the group.

What a ride Szmyd !!!!

Thanks for today Sylwek.

What a shame that yesterday stage was cancelled :( Sylwas was the strongest uphill today on a short climb, wich does not suit him. Sylwester could have won the whole race... feel sorry for him becouse it maybe was his last chance this season to ride for himself. Basso

he won't have to ride for basos. that guy is really over. it's worse though he will have to work for niobali which means softpedaling the mountains for him again

that's why he would be 2nd and not first

Yeah but this race with a MTF and a TT is pretty weird. everyone is ending up with the same times other than albasini.
