Sky's team:

CATALDO Dario Italy
EDMONDSON Joshua United Kingdom
KENNAUGH Peter United Kingdom
KNEES Christian Germany
LOPEZ GARCIA David Spain
PATE Danny United States
URAN Rigoberto Colombia
WIGGINS Bradley United Kingdom

Clearly enough power to run a train for a few days.

No doubt, a strong team. Is this likely to be representative of Wiggins Giro team?

Henao to come in and either Eisel or Stannard to replace Edmondson would be my guess but what would I know.

Jose Rujano, only the wheather can ruin it for him. :D

Also, hopefully, now that there are some shorter easier hilly stages, I'm hoping the Butcher can confirm his potential again and do well in one or more of stage 1, stage 6 and stage 7.

The Butcher will ride? I don't believe that, unless they want to kill him.

Weird profiles but route looks great. Something for Purito or Valverde, Wiggins maybe for third podium spot.
Hopefully without a snowstorm like last year, ruined the whole race.
I think sky will ride for uran with wiggins as the last man. No tt so cant see wiggins winning gc

Cyclingfever has him in the startlist, lol and just saw they also have him for Pais Vasco and all the Ardennes classics. Yeah, it's probably for the best if he doesn't ride all that.

i wonder who will wiggins do, particularly on the aine stage which will be closer to what he will face in the giro then anything on his entire last 2 seasons

My guess is if he does anyone at Aine it would be one of the podium girls.

Machado will win easily

Although I'm hoping with you he'll finally get a win for once, I'm also thinking a stage win would already be a big performance for him. Saying he'll win every race he enters is quite unrealistic, but if you're such a Machado fan, noone will hold you back ofc.

Looks good to me, this edition. Just let´s hope snow won´t annoy the race, like it did last year when Jani Brajkovic won stage 3, and like it did once before also. That´s always a risk, since they moved Catalunya from May to end of March.

It´s getting serious for the stage racing cycling world, can´t wait.

A couple of things that I've noticed that make me wonder if they've been in the works for some time (and that the 2012 route was already partially set well in advance)... having a stage finish at the ski station at Vallter2000 will give us a good battle, but it's also the finishing point of the 100% Tondó ride in tribute to Xavier. The route passes through his hometown of Olot, after which it appears to follow exactly the route of the ride up to the ski station. The first ride was attended by a number of pros and ex-pros, especially Catalans like Joaquim Rodríguez, Joan Horrach and Josep Jufre.

Also, stage 6 finishes in the town of Valls, which was Tondó's birthplace. I wonder if there is some belated tribute that will take place.

Seems a good route.
But really, how the hell did they manage to do such horrible profiles?

It seems they just used Google Maps.

That being said, many other races do that and still manage to make decent-looking profiles.

Luckily for you guys, here comes Descender to curb your enthusiasm with more realistic, less flattering profiles:
