Wonder were Gesink stands in a decent race. In Murcia he finished almost 1 minute behind Quintana... He has to improve a lot if he wants to play a role in the Ardennes....

You missed a great chance to use Let Me Google That for You.

Also I fully expected this thread to be about the Volta being cancelled.

Gah I'm always on the lookout for one of those!

With that said, we've had enough bad news about Spanish races of late. Glad to see this one is alive and kicking...

Are they having no time bonuses again this year? If so it will most likely be like last year in that the first GC man to the top of the MTF will take the overall. If not Valverde will win:p

Don't know too much about allergies, but isn't wet good? No pollen in the air and so on?

Im still hoping the new thing he was trying this winter has helped and he can be awesome all year long! I really want to see him compete in the AGR FW and LBL.

Yes. Pollen levels vary a lot from day to day, but rain tends to reduce them.

Over the last couple of years, Catalunya has been the last race Martin is able to compete in with proper form in the first half of the season. But he could get lucky with pollen levels and be competitive for longer, or unlucky and have his chances in Catalunya wiped out too.

(Or, of course, some doctor somewhere could finally come up with a solution to his difficulties. Lots of riders have some degree of breathing difficulty in the spring, but Martin seems to be the most extreme case in the pro peloton. Vaughters likened it to trying to ride while breathing through a straw).

Is there nothing that can be done to Help Martin with his allergy

Well im not an expert but Vaughters said they are trying and Im sure they are, Martin probably knows how much it is damaging his potential and in his recent Q&A Vaughters stated how highly he values Martin and how he could become an incredibly potent ardennes rider.
Garmin are evidently trying their best and Martin does seem to have a new technology or something which has been hinted that may help him but it does seem like a problem which seems to be very hard to get rid off, if he doesnt manage to get it better this spring then i doubt he will ever be rid of it.

I think that is a monster stage, stage 2 will be also interesting for the daredevils who are prepared to attack on Els Angels and try to hold a lead on the downhill into Girona. Having ridden both sides of Els Angels, they are definitely doing the tougher side even if it is half the distance. I think the average for the 5km climb is just under 7%, I know I really struggled with it but then I was badly out of shape at the time:D. Will be interesting to see what happens if the pros go for it as it is only 12km or so mostly downhill to the finish.

i don't know.human body still has some secrets unsolved by science yet.
i have the same problem,in the spring i use some inhalers,budesonide...corticosteroids are no doping though because you breath better after it.and i think those are legal now.
