Every team except UAE & Visma have been on the front pulling, so looks good for The Breakaway King.

Marit should be significantly faster than Coquard in a flat sprint.
Marit was dropped on the first climb yesterday, though, and did the whole stage in a ~10 men gruppetto. I'd think others cope a bit better with harder stages, including Coquard.

But in the end, the level is fairly low of course, and no sprinter here has shown particularly good shape recently.

With his main goals coming up shortly, Cortina should normally be in good shape. But it's not like he wins a lot.

Sure but calling Coquard the number 1 favorite on a flat stage seems like a stretch, definitely knowing he's been sprinting backwards this season. He's ofcourse one of the favorites but there's like 5 guys who could win.

Pogacar would dust them all honestly.

I doubt he will as it is a pointless risk, but I wonder where Pogacar would finish if he tried to win the stage.

even when getting a perfect leadout from Lotto Coquard can't win it

Great win for Van den Berg and EF, they were struggling lately (apart from Bettiol).

I think Coquard was a the front a teeny bit too early, but he probably wouldn't have won anyway. At least he comfortably beat Drizners and Hayter. Nice win for Van den Berg. Liepiņš looked better than in Koksijde, but the field is obviously weaker here.

Van Den Berg is really good at sprinting with no leadout train, Steinhauser usually helps him out but he had to do it mostly himself here and picked the right wheel.

Ineos really do need a proper sprinter, Viviani is extremely unserious, and I've no idea what happened to Hayter, the way Thomas was lining it out with a huge pull there you'd think they still had Cavendish in the team.

I was surprised to hear the norwegian commentator mentioning that Couqard had a chance to win his 2nd WT race. How is it possible for him to only have 1 WT win? He's been one of the top sprinters for almost 10 years now hasn't he? I remember him being a constant presence in the top 10 of TDF sprinter stages when I was still following the sport closer than what I have done in the past few years.

I would never have guessed that he only has 1 WT win but looking at his results it seems he only manages to win in *.1 and *.HC races and not in the WT.

Tomorrow's finale is more or less the same one Groves (on his team mate's bike) won ahead of Coquard last year. They just take a different road to another finishing town half way through the descent.

So there may be another chance for guys like Hayter, but I guess it'll be difficult to keep things together.

for coquard, hitting the wind is like running into a brick wall
