The Baga region and the Cadi Moixero & Pedraforca natural parks in particular are very beautiful places, just had to say this having hiked there. Hope the racing delivers, a fast start is... Well, a good start.

Would be glad to see someone go from a distance, quintana being my first guess.

So very fast start ...peloton split
Thomas in 2nd group
Based on what we saw yesterday, as long as Froome has Nieve, he'll be fine.
Nieve alone can't build a sky train though. Not a perfect situation for Froome but not a disaster yet as well.

In the bigger picture it doesn't matter very much. It's not like Froome is in top shape to challenge for the win.

I didnt know this rider...http://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/rider_palm.asp?riderid=21014&year=2015&all=1&current=0

Another one to follow, what he did today at 21 is something to take into account.

I wonder how did he slip by Sky, being British and all.

Probably a combination of no track background and being from the British domestic scene before joining Caja Rural. After their initial season, the only four riders they've signed who have been on the British scene are Joshua Edmondson, Jonathan Tiernan-Locke, Alex Peters and Luke Rowe, and only the latter had a track background and he's clearly the only one Sky found success with (Peters is an unknown case so far).

I already seen De Gent winning stages like this, if breakaway succeed I think he's favourite

he won stage 20 at giro 2012 on Stelvio after a solo breakaway, finishing on the podium that year

Not that it is of any importance...

It is if you have to do the chasing ...

Best placed is Swift at 10minutes. There is no GC threat in the break. Tinkoff shouldn't care too much, AC doesn't mind winning Gt's without stage victories. And even if his team uses all their riders to chase, it's not like he needed teammates to put time into his rivals yesterday.

Exactly, Cunego was 2nd. Probably the best De Gent performance of his career so far

Sigh

Over in the Contador thread they re lamenting he has no team mates at end of races
You point out Tinkoff are chasing and using up their riders and its so what
Never mind I guess you know it all

We haven't seen a glimpse of that De Gendt since that stage though.

Well it's better to have a strong teammate in the final with you instead of none. Right?
I think Froome agrees.
