One danger on this stage is that it the 3 km rule won't apply so fingers crossed there are no crashes in the km of chaos before the climb starts

Rabo better do a good job to protect Gesink.

My prediction: we'll get about 5 minutes of action, and then people will talk about how awesome and exciting the Vuelta is.

Mr Happy!!

Try and enjoy bud, it will soon be October and we will all be hibernating for another 6 months with only You Tube to keep us warm:)

katusha being too strong, will let a weak break get away and reel it in with a little help from argos who will work till the final days sprints then katusha will do chunk of work with no doubt sky pitching in to keep the pace honest.

Nobody that needs bonus seconds is holding back on this one: including those who can win it like Gilbert. It's too close. This is much better than the TDF; even if we get 6 minutes of action, can't even compare the 2.
Gilbert can do anything Rodriguez can...just a little better. :)

That has to be one of the most ridiculous stage profiles ever to be seen in a race.

That is what I was thinking. Very weird but very cool.

I think the climb is heavy enough so we will get a whole 7 minutes.

The jockeying for position will start quite a ways out, very high paced run up I'm sure :)

I'm not saying it is a well thought out parcours LOL, but should be 20km of fun.

I probably will you know. Because those will be 5 awesomme minutes of action and have me discussing it for hours after. And I will have had another fulfilled day in this Grand Tour. And when i go to bed i will be dreaming about what great gc action i saw rather than trying to put myself to sleep by counting down the km gradient percentages on Zoncolan.

I grew up on a 1km hill of about 18% grade. Every single ride, no matter how hilly, I'd have to tackle that thing last.

Sour grapes. I know what you mean, but do you expect more action if they put 4 small climbs in the last 30km?
Like the TdF with the stage in Bretagne that had 5 cat 3-4 climbs in the last 20km where nothing happened at all. The 80s are over unfortunately.

This finish is atleast more entertaining then a bunch sprint imo, allthough the winner today is more predictable.

Sure I could make a lot more interesting stages then this Vuelta has, but imo only the Giro usually has a route of which I think. "Yes this is pretty cool, it could be better, but it's pretty damn good". It didn't matter this year as it was still pretty boring, allthough I enjoyed it.

I reckon that Moreno will try and get amongst the rest to take some of those bonus seconds away.
He is the mini Spanish version of Denis Menchov; their stealth climber.
Besides Purito, this climb suits him as much as anybody.
Could even be a Katusha 1-2.

gesink is gonna struggle a lot here
god forbid he enters the climb in a decent position, oh man, it's gonna be bad !
He has 8 teammates to keep him at the back of the field, don't you worry ;)
