At Valdepenas and Escortial last year he hurt himself leading out Rodriguez, and ultimately guaranteeing Purito gets the 12 will be more important than trying to get in amidst for the 8 or the 4.

Didn't he also finish 3rd at Valdepenas?

He's also 6th on the GC.

Pays to keep him up there, in case somebody cracks and as an attacking threat.

You're not the only guy, Hitch. I think Contador has a good chance aswell.

Anyway assuming the breakaway last untill the climb how much do you think it needs to stay away?

2 minutes is enough?

Won that stage of the Giro this year flying past a Scarponi in the final m, who had managed to drop everyone.

Tiralongo getting a Vuelta stage to add to his 2 Giro ones would be absolutely awessome and its now pressure off for Astana after Kessiakoff heroics yesterday.

I presume you meant :p

Do not metion that traitor Kiser, it makes me sad :(

We are seeing the negative effect of bonus seconds (and Rodriguez ramps).
Breakaway yet to succeed in the Vuelta.
