Moncoutie et al going for the King of the Mountains.

Does this jersey really mean anything? How could he or someone other than one of the leaders possibly be considered the race's best climber if he wins it again? Kind of a joke really.

He has no chance. Clarke had 16 points before this stage, so will almost certainly lead the classification after today, I would expect. With the amount of MTFs to come though, I would be surprised if somebody like Clarke or Moncoutié can compile more points than the GC guys, and if they achieve it that way they deserve it.

Kind of how Fabian Wegmann was in the break of the day eight times (and in an early move on a ninth occasion) in order to pick up his Giro GPM.

At this pace Contador will not drop Purito. He has to make the race harder.

I think he's saving navarro to do a 1 km insane pace. But I agree it should be a bit harder. Losada still has 1:45

If Purito rides like he did at the Giro, I can't seem him being dropped on long climbs. He handled Hesjedal's diesel very well--though Ryder could get get the gap on him and hold it a very few times on the long climbs. Guess that's how he won it.

These climbs should suit Gesink. Hope he can finally come through in a big race. :D

But Bertie should only get stronger from here.

I don't think Alberto is thinking about Purito actually. Not yet anyway. I think he wants to put some more time into Froome. I don't think he will concede any more time to Purito though...

I can't understand how can be the Giro a reference. There were no one who was able to jump like Contador, as you wrote, there were only diesels, and not the strongest ones. Just remember, every time Hesjedal attacked with a real attack, then Purito was never able to go with him. He always went behind others, and he jumped somewhere in the last 2 kms.
