This would be the GC minus bonus seconds.

I agree with the fact that Fuente De is where Contador can gain more because the gradient suits him much more. Even in 11' Giro Contador suffered a bit on Zoncolan.
However i have to say that i didn't expect Purito to hold on after -6km accelleration.

Ildabaoth said:Sure, but I'm under the impression that had Contador done a Purito style attack at 300 meters from the finish line and managed to take some seconds from Purito, you wouldn't have called it an "uphill sprint", but the best attack ever in cycling history.

Still the worlds to come too.
Indeed. I thought he should have attacked earlier, or at least upped the pace much more. At least when he attacked this time he tried to sustain it, but he stopped after a kilometer and a half or so. I hope he blows himself up at the Bola, attacking from the bottom, but maybe by then Dani Moreno will be great again and he won't have another chance like today.Ryo Hazuki said:contador should have attacked way earlier. it's his own fault. all or nothing

Publicus said:I think what he is saying is that just because JRod "sprinted" away at the end, does not transform this final climb into an uphill sprint.
Well, you see I completely overlooked it. Are ITT considered proper wins?Frosty said:Pretty sure Wiggins won a time trial in the tour as well as leading out Cavendish (although he did slow down Froome as well...). Paris-Nice, Tour du Romandie, Dauphine![]()
Paco_P said:Contador made a brutal attack. Rodriguez stayed with him. Contador made another one. Rodriguez beat him up the last hill. They were both very impressive and both are clearly riding to win the whole thing. What the hell else can you want?

i have a question tho,
what do you guys think, will contador get stronger or weaker heading towards the last weekend?
LaFlorecita said:One thing you should keep in mind is that he is only ahead because of the bonus seconds.

ManInFull said:Absolutely. This race was designed for a climber and Purito has proven to be the best.
Is there any chance that ASO will create a similar route for next year's 100th TdF?

Yes, I understand, but you are the likely the only one who did and you are the only one who responded.Parrulo said:evil mods see everything![]()

Take two. Well, you see I completely overlooked it. Are ITT considered proper wins?El Pistolero said:It's better than Purito's uphill sprint wins. He won 2 time trials by the way.
ManInFull said:That does not matter. He's racing the course that was put out in front of him and he is performing better than AC. And yes, I am a big fan of AC and I had hoped that he would win the Vuelta. But, he's been unable to dislodge Purito--heck he can't even win a stage. The finish has been too steep, he's misjudged the remaining distance before attacking, etc. Purito is simply better right now.

he'll probably get a little stronger not much, but what I have been saying since Saturday is that it's not a question of AC getting stronger but a question of JR getting weaker and that is not happening. Nor do I think it will happen sufficiently, if at all, for AC to get enough time back.
MODERATE THAT!
