That would be a very strong list of contenders but Horner's got this. He will just get out of the saddle and hammer away until he's won it.

Go up the first four fifths of the final (only) climb like you are on a motorbike. Then let Froome try to smash it home. Rinse, wash, repeat, over and over.

I can't see more than maybe 2 of those riders bothered to work for a peak to tow Froome to 10 Vuelta stage wins.

Hesjedal, as he said after the Dauphiné, will ride the Vuelta this year. He should be the leader of Garmin. Also, i noticed that the stages of the Vuelta really looks like the stages of Giro 2012. Im not saying he will surely win, but who knows. He will have a great chance for the podium.
That's my prediction of the roster of Garmin-Sharp in the Vuelta this year:
Hesjedal, Martin, Miller, Dennis, Morton, Von Hoff, Fernandez, Cardoso and Fairly.

Froome
Quintana
Purito
Contador
Horner
Valverde
Aru
Pozzovivo
Hesjedal
Keldermann
Moreno

Plus
Chaves
Barguil & Kudus as young guns
Evans & Sanchez for another last Top 10
Pardilla or Arroyo for some random top 10

That's by far the best gt field in terms of gc riders we had for a while isn't it?

That are 5 to 6 man being able to win and about 15 man able to top 5 or top 10 in theory,

Plus as we all know: In Espana they're always going loco for some great entertainment.

Guess anything can happen here.
- Froome vs Quintana showdown
- Froome show with 4 - 6 stage wins
- Purito stealing away his gt victory
- All favorites having issues -> Pozzovivo for one time putting together his quality over 3 weeks
- Oldie but Goldie 2.0 starring Chris Horner
- Barguil confirming his status as the French jewel with a nice performance.
- Aru. " " " " " Italian "

Oh and just for the record:

Purito, Valverde, Evans, Froome, Sastre, Menchov, all riders who have done the double in the past, all have made the top 4 in the Vuelta after going full gas in the Tour.

Contador is better than all of those. He can win both. Last year he didn't stop after the tour and raced in **** form all the way through to Lombardia
The Vuelta has been the worst GT for years for me. It has been plain horrible. I just try to watch those horrible "wannabe real" stages. They look like sprints up the mountains all the time.

As a fan it has been hard to watch it. This year, my compatriot, is there for the win along with many others, so I'll try me best to watch it.:)

Contador, quintana, valverde, aru (not sure yet), pozzovivio, purito CONFIRMED!!

Hopefully Froome will race it. Now put Wiggins in the team to add some drama.

Best GT this year, easily :D

Any more riders that will race it to make the hype more real?????

Gesink and Wilco :p:eek::eek:

Nibali should do the Vuelta as well.
Hell, it should be a requirement for all GT riders (over a certain age) to do two GTs every year.

Most of them would get sick in a way that can't be overcome with a TUE

This year's Vuelta has only two real mountain stages, and they're both in the last days.

Anybody can win this Vuelta. It's half a GT.

And that is why Basso will win it.

I cannot understand this thread. Why on earth anybody is thinking about a bunch of uphill sprints in a couple months, when we've had have wet cobbles, echelons, a nice hilly stage and when we have some good designed mountain stages coming up boggles the mind.

no one is mentioning Uran, Arredondo or Betancur :(
Betancur has been mentioned already. But Uran is so underrated in this Forum. Maybe because of the way he rides (Evans like).

maybe because Richie Porte has 3rd odds to win the current GT?
