I really don't think Sky realised he was out front. Froome might've been to far back at the point when Roche went off to notice it? Also no images of Roche means that none of the DS's were alerted in the last 10km.

Edit: Though maybe that's what the chat with Nibbles was about.

Sky knew it of course, that was the chat about.
Though Froome was quite far behind in the technical part of the descent, so there's that as well.

And here is something for all you know it all ...why did Nibali not keep riding with Roche ....they rode together on stage 3 on the descent which Nibali won and owed alot to Roche who did most of the chasing...surely this was an opportunity for Nibali

Where were his balls

Whatever about Sky's priorities, it's hard to know what most of the GC group were doing, neither chasing Roche nor keeping Zakarin and De La Cruz off the back. That's just giving away free time.

It wouldn't have worked. Sky still has three men and it had become a power descent. They would've chased them down easily.

Unrelated, but why was Roson so angry at the end?

Rojas is a moron.
He's way slower than Trentin, what could he possibly have done?
Not worked with him and led him out. He seemed to do everything possible to lose. The only thing that could've improved it was starting his sprint at 500m out.

The NBC commentators were speculating that he had overcooked a corner on the descent and that was why he was gapped by Trentin and Rojas. It was pure speculation, however.

Orica must be happy with today's result - Trentin will get them wins in 2018.

Roche practicing to be the next Zubeldia........so far so good !

Dont remember Zubeldia attacking off the front

Say whetever you want about Roche (as some ppl are so eager to dismiss) at least he has the balls to try

I meant the disappearing act and the fact that no one chased. I think Roche has ridden well so far.

Sit on his wheel. Make Trentin work. Give Soler a chance to get back. Trentin probably still wins, but at least Rojas maximises his chances. As it was, working with a faster sprinter in a group of 2 guaranteed defeat.

Honestly, this stuff used to be Cycling 101. If you don't know how to deal with this situation, you might have to start anew in the amateur circuit.

Although he already lost big time in stage 9, Simon Yates loses massively again today. Then again not much very surprising after the tour

Emmm I manot 100% sure...why did Orica and co. not catch Roche then

Plus why did the peloton let Zakarin & de la Cruz back in....surely they could have ridden to keep that gap open

If Rojas stops working Trentin waits for Rosón and Van Rensburg, Trentin wins anyways and Rojas finishes 4th

Or Rosón, Van Rensburg and Rojas take turns attacking and leave the responsibility of the chase to Trentin, who tires himself for the sprint or doesn't manage to bring everybody back.

Or Trentin decides to take his chances and tow Rojas to the finish line rather than risk adding more variables to the equation, which maximizes Rojas's chances of beating him.

I'd rather finish 2nd than 4th. Soler was a minute behind.

Rojas' attempt at a long sprint just seemed kinda silly because Trentin wass just much stronger than him.
