I wouldn't be surprised to see the Yates brothers and Orica go for it later in the race like they did last year for Chaves.

Yates was probably forced to attack, it had never crossed his mind most likely. He is just content following and preferably in the back of the peloton looking as disinterested to ride aggressively as possible.

Yates was told by Matt White to just follow wheels in the Tour. David Miller interviewed White on ITV4

Btw, De la Cruz and Van Garderen aren't rivals of Contador but their teams will probably chase Contador when he attacks since they are ahead of him on GC atm, that's why those two losing time is important for Contador.
