This is the kind of stage which might not show its consequences until the muritos tomorrow and the day after. Some riders having to dig really deep to limit damage, and there's no chance to recover in the next two days.

This 100%. The gaps today were only ever 15s to the chasers but you can bet riders went very deep (including those at the front) on that climb and descent and that will tell, both in the coming days and by the end of the third week. Really going to be a gruelling race if this keeps up
