What a bloody moron !!!!!

Vuelta is very dangerous after the finish line.
Rather come 5th then win and break my collarbone !

Campenaerts said to Danish TV that he would rather have won and broken his collarbone than coming fifth :D
Hahahah they are a lot tougher then me :p

LOL for some of them the broken collarbones is like flu for me

So Van Baarle sprinted from about 400m out, but 50m behind. What was he playing at allowing that gap?
He got dropped because he was fooling around with Brambilla who didn't want to work, and he wasted a lot of energy bridging back to the leaders. He barely made it back on in time for the sprint, it was a mistake, not a deliberate tactic

Kind of humiliating for van Baarle to lose the sprint, then crash after the finish line.
But the spectator got owned, the sunglasses flew off his face because he got hit in the head so hard. So there was a price to pay for this oblivious jaywalk blunder
Wouldn't say humiliating cause it wasn't his fault and he's not exactly known as a sprinter
He was expected to win as the best sprinter of the bunch

Geniez was there. van Baarle's nowhere near as fast.

Yes, a mistake. He could have won. Of course, he would have had the satisfaction of being the first to clock that official...

No. He had left Devenyns and Brambilla behind, and rejoined the group of 4 that had got ahead, several km earlier. Then with about 1km left he and Formolo dropped behind the group of 4. If he had the power to catch up and be strongest of them in the last 200m, why did he let himself get so far behind with 800m to go? Threw it away.

Anyway, have we heard whether he is OK after flipping over the idiot official?

It wasn't a spectator, Van Baarle isn't a sprinter and the crash wasn't his fault. Other than that, great post!

And given the weather, I'm fairly sure they weren't sunglasses.

Yes, he spoke with Danish TV and seemed to be allright.

Indeed. I actually was surprised van Baarle gave Geniez a hard time. Geniez pretty much always wins a group sprint.

Good observation, that makes it more embarrassing (for the local race organizers)
Van Baarle isn't a sprinter
Didn't say that he was
and the crash wasn't his fault.
Doesn't matter, neither was mine
Other than that, great post!
Do the race yourself, spend 100 miles and five hours riding over small mountains, then crash after the line because of an absurd situation. Then you can tell me that.

Call you what?
