If Valverde get's a high finish today and tomorrow there won't be any way for Sagan to win the green jersey. Valverde currently has an 18 pt lead. If he goes into Sunday with at least a 25 point lead the most Sagan can do is tie and I think that would give it to Valverde due to more higher finishing spots in more stages.

People here get amusingly annoyed when teams other than those of the main protagonists interfere when the teams of the GC main men are racing. It’s a grand tour. Teams that are not in the race for the leaders Jersey have their own goals. Bora haven’t left a GT in two years without winning a stage and usually picking up something else, like a points jersey or a GC top 10. Yet people are furious that they didn’t just sit up and let the points Jersey, a chance at a top 10 and one of their last chances at a stage all disappear up the road at once because it would be more entertaining for the GC battle.
