It's almost five months till Willunga Hill, so I don't understand his rush in getting into shape.

I didn’t really have a good run-in so I think I’ve always been honest with my ambitions here and that was to ride for preparation for the Worlds.

I know, I'm just teasing a bit.

Today's climbs might be the closest to Willunga they'll do in the Vuelta

I hope he just rises in the saddle and gains a minute on his breakaway companions on the climb then :)

So... according to Nygaard a "secret source" has informed him that Porte's breakaway is because he's too fat.
I mean… obviously… :p

I open up Eurosport and Richie Porte is in the breakaway. He is not gonna be in the GC so maybe preparing to get atleast one stage win in the third week. Also hopefully somebody will try to challenge Viviani today.

Porte has no balls
He should attack the first mountain in a grand tour like he does one week races and gain the lead and hope he doesn’t crash, better then crashing and doing nothing

I think that those crashes have affected him more than we know it. I mean I am the same age as him and just a month ago I fell when running in the woods and hurt my shoulder area. I did not break anything but even know im still feeling some sort of pain on it every day. Surely he has professional doctors, but still as older you get the more difficult it gets mentally.

They're starting the fight for position before they turn to the left to be exposed to cross-winds

A pole, although softened, just after dark corner. No wonder there was a crash.

Would be interesting if this split opened due to the crash or due to echelons.
