Apparently Trek were speculating before the race that they'd need to be brought to the circuit in cars.

I've read that similar protests were planned in Torino, but local law enforcement managed to stop them before the race came by.

Whatever you think of the protests themselves, you gotta agree it was immensely dumb of the organizers to just carry on and bury their heads in the sand and wish very hard for the problem to blow over on its own

I think some people are angry with Matteo Jorgenson's mustache.. I know I am.. People are harder to see but they are out there!

cannot see the grand depart of the TDF going ahead next year in Spain. This is too embarrassing for ASO

Maybe move the start to Monaco and go through southern France before reaching the Pyrenees, or even skip the Pyrenees entirely and go with a heavy Massif Central program instead
