How is the g in Jurgen pronounced? With a hard [g] or with a [ɣ] like in Gesink?
The [g] doesn't exist in Dutch/Flemish. Always a [ɣ]. (except in English loan words of course)

Where/when is it pronounced [x]?

I think that is probably a dialectal thing. [ɣ] is simply the voiced version of [x] so they sound very similar. Otherwise [x] is mostly used for the digraph /ch/

That's right, /g/ vs. /ch/ is voiced vs. unvoiced. But the difference is hardly noticeable.

Andy Schleck heard Dekker_T's scathing criticism of his finishing position yesterday and is on the attack early in today's stage!

What he says.

Xabier Zabalo (Orbea), Marco Marcato (Vacansoleil), Andy Schleck (Leopard-Trek) and Héctor González (KTM-Murcia).

Marcato is going for a long season apparently.

The pictures of the stage suggest that yesterday Andy Schleck was also riding on the front at some point.

Seven new escapees reportedly.

Edit:
Dockx (Omega Pharma-Lotto), Urtasun (Euskaltel-Euskadi), Stamsnijder (Rabobank), Herrada (Movistar Team), Bonnin (Skil-Shimano), De la Fuente (Geox-TMC) and Cabedo (Orbea).

But Stamsnijder is with LEOPARD TREK I guess.

Edit²: Escapees have been reeled back in.

Seems we have the break of the day, with Cabedo (Orbea), Chente García (Movistar Team), Piedra (Andalucía-Caja Granada) y Galdos (Caja Rural)

IfI'm not mistaken Chente Garcia must be good old Garcia Acosta of Banesto and Caisse fame! Go for it!

Exactly, showing the race some respect.

Even good old Lance, who I also disliked for picking his races (especially the Tour), tried in most races to at least not make a clown out of himself. He would finish races well straight from the start of the season until the end (usually the Tour or the Zürich Metzgete, but hey...)

this. I liked andy when he first hit the scene a lot. Now there's not many riders i dislike more. The fact he is so smug helps little. You have no right. you one show pony.

Great to see Cabedo. As a junior he was propably the most talented spanish stageracer, and though he was less dominant in the u23 ranks, he should still have huge potential.

35km to go, break has just less than 2 minutes advantage. Look's like we'll see another bunch finish, but the crazy up-then-down-then-up-again finale should make it interesting.

The profiles made it look like this is a slight uphill finish. Does anyone know if this will prove to be to tough for some of the sprinters?

Good for Samu showing himself early in the season... and more awesome for Ventoso... what a early season, Movistar made a very good investment bringing him to the team, his 1st season in the team and he has already shown more than JJ Rojas...

This finish suited him perfectly, uphill requiring power legs... now He is happy cuz yesterday he was pretty disappointed...

You are right! In this kind of arrival he's one of the best...
and the last stage suites again for him!
