Jrod:

* Won a stage in the Tour that ended on Mende, outsprinted Contador on a pretty much flat part.
* Won 2 stages in T-A with uphill finishes at Montelupone.
* Won a stage at Vuelta with uphill finish at Peña Cabarga(average of 9%, steepest part at 19%. 6km long).

Ps: Gilbert 2011 can handle a finish like that these days.

Gilbert can handle Peña Cabarga? Really? Gilbert lost last year more than 3 minutes to JRod on Xorret de Catí, which is less than 4kms long. I have my doubts about Gilbert being able to handle any wall longer than 2kms better than the likes of Contador, Antón, JRod or Evans.

Actually, Angliru is a climb where you tempo climb instead of explosive bursts all the time(unless you're name if Contador of course)

But of course he'll lose time there, because he's not a pure climber.

But the problem with Angliru, compared to Zoncolan or Mortirolo, is that it's very irregular in gradient.

Out of those three, it has the steepest full kilometre (17,6%) and the steepest overall gradient (23,6%).

Doesn't Spain have a special time zone around this time of the year??? btw, I don't like the start time of the opening TTT. Doesn't fit in well with me as it will start at around 2-3am I think.

I suspect that once Wiggins has one really bad GC day he will probably shut it down and focus on stages and/or saving himself for worlds.

Interesting, he's saying that his plan is to go flat out for three weeks, and see where he gets to in the Worlds as preparation for the Tour/Olympics next year:

"You don't get many opportunities to ride a Grand Tour for the overall standings – I have to take every one that comes, so I will put my hand up and give it 100% every day."

Could be fun

Hopefully he does well. He looked really good going into the tour this year so if he could bring that form into la vuelta he may finish very highly. Over than Brad the vuelta squad for sky is quite ordinary.

Was talking about stage 4 of the Vuelta last year where he finished 5 seconds behind Igor Anton.

Will Roche be in top form in time for the Vuelta or is his season over? If he is struggling and slips out of the top 10 on GC he will go stage hunting and I would really fancy his chances of a stage win then.

Let's do it. Kittel avatar for a month for whoever loses?

Why wouldn't the one who thinks that Kittel can podium want a Kittel avatar? Way too easy. If I lose, I will take Kittel avatar for a month, when I win, the loser will take Taaramae avatar for a month. Whoever agrees with this the first, will have the bet :)

I was on the Xorret del Catí when good old Rein went crack... Poor guy. I'll take it.

However, if I say I'm confident Kittel will get a podium place and he doesn't and then I have to sport a Kittel avatar, then you're kind of rubbing it in that I failed, right?

Hard to know. He's been very unlucky this year, crashing and throwing off his preparation every time he was trying to peak. The thing is though that the Vuelta follows very quickly from the Tour this year, and it will be tough to go from a poor Tour to a good Vuelta. And if he doesn't have the form to compete on GC, he probably won't have the form to be all that effective as a stage hunter either.
