I like 11, 14, 16, and 20. I think 15 and 17 could be ok as well. Agree with the general consensus that it's hugely imbalanced, but hopefully there will be some aggressive riding up the solitary climb of the day...

Roche has tweeted that it is one of his major goals for 2012, so he will be there. Given the plethora of short sharp uphill finishes, one can assume that Purito and Anton will also be there, plus Contador (CAS permitting).

"Los muchos finales en alto se compensan con que hemos reducido kilometros y hemos quitado puertos de paso"

and

"Para mis características hubiera preferido menos crono"
Igor Antón.

Could someone translate them for me?

First quote is something like: "The many uphill finishes and less kilometers are what the fans want" ?

I think Anton says something like "With my skills I would rather have more TT miles" , but somehow that seems odd to me :D

Could someone properly translate them for me, because google translate can't handle it.

"The many mountain-top finishes are balanced out by the fact that we've reduced the length of stages and taken out previous climbs."
"Para mis características hubiera preferido menos crono"

"For someone like me I'd have liked less time trial."

VeloNews Reports -- Officials in Madrid confirmed today that the last stage of the Vuelta Espana, traditionally a celebratory parade-like procedure into Spain's capital followed by a bunch sprint, will end on the previously unused Verteduro de Basura climb.

'We wanted to inject a level of excitement into the traditionally predictable finale', race director Javier Guillen said. 'We talked to the Vuelta fans, and what they want to see is more city-based-hilltop finishes'. The Vuelta already features a finish on top of the hill of Montjuc in Barcelona.

Guillen also mentioned that organizing crews will start work on paving the climb, which is currently just a garbage dump on the outside of town. 'We had to work hard to find a suitable climb to finish this Vuelta with a bang', he said, noting that the 1.2km climb will have ramps of up to 25% at the section called Muro de Nevera. 'This is the section of the dump where all of the refridgerators are piled up, it makes for a challenge and will be quite a spectacle', Guillen predicted.

Sod will be laid down at the side of the freshly paved surface so that spectators will not have to stand in hot garbage in the late Madrid summer. Guillen pointed out that pleasing the fans is the first priority of the Vuelta organization. 'We listened to the fans when the route was leaked, and they said that this Vuelta was garbage. We wanted to give them more of what they wanted.'

haha :D:D:D

Igor was kidding on the square. Realistically he's telling the truth, but it's an obvious joke because he knows that it's not likely that he'll ever see a GT less TT-focused (especially given that there is a climb in the ITT) and he's playing that up.

Explain me, please, what a balanced route means? What with what are you gonna balance? :) As for ITT, there's no regrets for me. Most of the Vuelta contenders are not very good in this discipline and it wouldn't influence drastically. Regardingly mountanious part, it is clearly not the worst route over the last 10 years.

6. :)
