Farrar's sole lead out guy disappeared way early and he appeared to fight through several guys to get to Gilbert-who was great. Garmin's gotta get their sh*t a little tighter...

Garmin is a little short-handed here with DZ gone now and Dean long gone.

Great job by Tyler showing he has more classics/tough finish in him than some give him credit for. Worlds hope is slightly better after today from my opinion.

Where did Cav finish?? What does the green jersey look like?

I'm not sure that 3km rule works as intended for this kind of finish. It seems most important people lost 15" so it was easy to give Fränk that too, but I can't see how that decision could have been done in any objective way.

Anyway, Gilbert is awesome.

Is there any way to give your bike a puncture with, say, 2k to go if youre just feeling crappy?

Cav was 18th so Farrar is 12 points behind.

Very good for Farrar, and I can't stand his adverts ;)

Assuming no intermediate sprint points for Farrar, then Farrar needs to win the final stage and Cav no better than 5th. It's possible, but it looks like that nice Manx chap has his jersey at last.

Completely unofficial green jersey standings:

1 Mark Cavendish 136
2 Tyler Farrar 124
3 Philippe Gilbert 100
4 Vincenzo Nibali 99
5 Joaquin Rodriguez 93

Cav only needs fourth on Sunday to win it.

The first sprint prime tomorrow is after a 3rd and a 1st cat climb, so I doubt Farrar or Cav are getting anything there. Sunday is dead flat and has 8 points on offer, but even if Farrar cleans up the lot he still needs to beat Cav at the line to win it.

I don't see HTC letting Farrar get (m)any intermediates. Farrar did manage to beat Cav on stage 5, though Cav has been improving and Farrar hasn't (until today).

Mosquera lost contact with the front because he was right behind Fränk when he had his mechanical. He chased after but he was spent in the last km.

Mosquera should know that Fränk's wheel is something to avoid on stage like today's if you get close to it by chance! :D

Would love to see Tyler pull a Hushovd and get into the break tomorrow. (I don't ecpect that though)

I can't see Farrar riding in the break all day and beating a fresh Cav in the bunch sprint too, unless he gets really lucky. I think Farrar and Garmin will save themselves for the finish.

Anyway, **** talking about Cav winning his first points jersey, lets go to the other thread and talk about GC.

I've figured that I want to go to Toledo and buy one of these swords. Whether they would take it off me as I arrive back in Australia remains to be seen.

It was by no means stupid for Millar to work, and I think Farrar might now be my dark horse pick for the Worlds. He's not going to be attacking anyone on the climbs but he could win in the same kind of way Boonen did (although his team probably isn't as strong as Boonen's was).

last i checked farrar was still riding for the USA. given the weak team we are sending, that is some dark horse indeed.

but that is for a different thread.
