Good win by Kuss. Roglic and Valverde were strong. Lopez and Quintana seem to have hit the wall form wise. Not that surprised by Quintana but expected a little better from Lopez.

I saw weaknesses in Lopez and Pogacar. I was expecting this to happen to Pogacar because of his age. It all depends on how Lopez goes tomorrow and the last week.

I dont think this race is over at all .Sure Roglic looks very strong but a full week to go ...If it were Nibali in 2nd place on GC everyone would be saying the shark could win
Quintana now needs to ride all out for Valverde as does Soler

MAL may improve ?

Chapeau, Sepp Kuss! Best American climber in years. Valverde was brave, today--and very good. Roglic as strong as he needed to be. Also impressed by Superman and Pogacar. The race for third on GC is still very much up in the air. Still not a lock for Roglic to win it all, though it looks more likely each day. Good stage.

Miss rides like all the very best mountain bike racers. He has really really kept his head together after the time trial disaster.
Valverde is putting on a show. Roglic is very cool and is fantastic to watch. Jumbo had another awesome day w riders in key positions and seeing Sepp Kuss being chased and his teammates right there was awesome.
no matter how this ends up,Roglic is really great

I think Movistar is happy that Quintana lost all this time because he won't be marked as close and will have some freedom.

I think baring any disaster Roglic is a lock. The other places, not so sure.

Mara Abbott ;)

But yes, Sepp is the best American prospect in the men's péloton for quite some time. Talansky promised but plateaued, Tejay was always more of a low gradient grinder kind of climber, and a TT-biased GC man. Sepp seems to be much more of a genuine mountain specialist.

Congrats on the stage win to Kuss. I'm hoping this Vuelta is a sign of what we may see from him in the future.

Right now it looks like unless Roglic crashes or blows up (less likely) he wins and same for Valverde with 2nd. The race for 3rd could be interesting between Pogacar and Lopez. No idea what Pogacar can do as he's now into something he hasn't done before.

I don't know early Contador but Contador I know used to attack when he was on not satisfying GC position.
2015 giro, the stage gilbert won. 2015 giro olano, 2015 giro Abetone, only in this gt I found 3 examples. 2009 tour Grand Bornand, Arcalis... I have more but I'm tired (I can go to one week stage races, 2008 vuelta, 2011 giro...) Seriously, all contador's career is full of "pointless attacks" but that's the reason why he is such a legend and he has our hearts. Cycling is not the same without him

Thank you. All good here. Bala looks to be fine after that crash yesterday. Now for one more tough mountain stage tomorrow.

Bala didn't bide his time...he went for time and got it from everyone but Primoz! Bala is riding a great Vuelta :)

This! The man just couldn't stop himself, he was an attack machine whether he needed to or not :).

Only watch the TdF then? Contador past his best was still winning year round until 2017, when he showed signs of decline until the Vuelta where he looked back good again. Problem he had was the older he got, the worse his bike handling skills got. Hell old Contador still won 2 GTs, one of which he beat Froome head to head.

Early Contador attacked when he felt like it.Why do you think Bruyneel and Lance still *** and moan about it? Berto attacked.

You're right, he didn't. I think he showed there are no lasting effects from the crash. He attacked and only Roglic (who is really good this Vuelta) was able to go with him. The podium we could end up with depending on how things work could have a 39 year old, a 29 year old and a 20 year old on. 3 riders from 3 different generations. We'd literally be seeing the past, present and future together. How insane would that be?

To see the type of rider contador is, just watch all 2011 giro. The guy won the race after Etna and he was attacking like a mad man 4 or 5 days later in austria (the stage rujano won)
