Aru in a bad way too ...did he also crash yesterday

Aru : I managed to get to the front but the pains are widespread and I find it hard to push from the seat. We'll see how the next few days will go, anyway, I try to hold on, as always!

I dont think so, it's probably still from the TTT crash.

If López wants to win the Vuelta he has to seize every opportunity to take time on Roglic, so Astana should work to stay within reach of the bonus seconds. On the other hand Superman isn't a mur specialist; he prefers the longer climbs and this one might suit Roglic too.

I thought Valverde WAS the mur guy.
Valverde never was the mur guy. He always struggled in gradients of 15-25 %. Purito is the mur guy. For me even contador was better than valverde in murs with 1-2 km. And in 4/5 km contador was always the best in the world.

I think Valverde has become the Mur guy. Last year he was impeccable when it got really steep in the Vuelta and Worlds. A few years ago he wasn't as good there, but then he began being it which also explains his rather late sequence of consecutive Fleche Wallonnes.

Mur de Huy soften in the last 300 m and this increase a lot valverde's chances if the mur isn't attacked early.
Sure, he can beat his opponents (I don't beleive, specially roglic) but in the past he lost in all these type of climbs to riders like contador, purito and froome (when in shape). But the field is weaker now so he has a chance. I already said that the valverde we saw from 2012-2015, could have a very good chance of winning this vuelta.

What do the camera bikes do until the coverage start, just ride along? Do the riders know when the coverage started so they stop with shenanigans?

Well… I suppose it would be kinda easy for the riders to figure out when the coverage starts. Just look at the coverage-schedule.

Lopez should keep Roglic in check today. It is short and steep and doesn't fit him. If he gains anything will be a few seconds. No need to risk and he might be the one to lose time.
