Carapaz has nobody to blame but himself here. Roglic was isolated a lot earlier than when he attacked, yet he waited until the hardest part of the climb was over, built a 20 second advantage in a short amount of time but once the road flattened out Roglic always had wheels in front of him while Carapaz was in the wind. Can't help but think that if Carapaz makes that attack where Carthy originally attacked this would have been decided by less than 10 seconds. This Vuelta was 100% winable for Carapaz, yet here we are.

Congrats primoz! Very happy for him.

Dont get people saying how pathetic he is. He is clinging to the last rests of his form, defended well in Bad situations and was always aggressive when he could make use of his abilities. Of course the great team makes the whole ride a bit uninspiring at times, but still, he did something exceptional (soooo close to a GT-double) and I can only feel happy for him.

I think he was quite poorly placed before the climb as he had no protectors, so he had probably got to go a bit harder than he would have liked to follow the Carthy move, plus he was relied on a fair bit to bring back Mas' move as well (he maybe shouldn't have blinked so early to cover that, or maybe he thought Mas would work with him, but his being there with Mas obviously brought Carthy and Rogla back to him), then he had to recover his legs a bit to go again I think.

I think that's mostly due to Carapaz not being better on steep parts, neither on the flat. He has a certain gradient I think where he's better than Roglic and he tried to use that part, but it was not enough.

I am amazed at the performance from Ineos. Really bad.
Some people saying that Carapaz should have attacked earlier in previous stages. I don't know. If there is a rider that always attacks when he has strength is Carapaz. You cannot criticize him for not attacking. Now, not having a team is a another thing.
He fooled around for a while on the harder section on the climb. He knew the gap. He didn't need to probe anyone, he should've just gone for it and not looked back.
