Yeah for the first time in years I find myself wanting to visit a subform I generally totally ignore.

The first time in years that you want to visit a subforum is when a kid who has shown to be absolute world class in TT does exactly what almost everybody expected him to do today?

No weirder things have happened the past years?

I guess you're talking about the Real Football Thread to speak about his background!

I actually think the uci needs to look at ITTs in terms of the technology and even slightly downhill courses. The speeds are getting so high and on the aero bars and filled wheels, there are going to dangerous crashes.

Its quite possible that Roglic has won his last Grand Tour
Yea, but tbf he still won three and he started late. He's done really well for himself during his spell at the top and made up for lost time big-time. While some prospects are can't-miss, many aren't, and a lot can change in a short space of time, late starters come out of nowhere and stars fade. I mean, people were talking about the riders they think will be at the forefront of GTs for the next decade a few days ago, including the likes of Vingegaard, Pog and Remco... but before his injury, not including Bernal in that would have seemed unthinkable. His case was just bad luck. And yet... how many people would have thought at the 1997 Tour that Jan Ullrich would never win the Tour again and would only win one more Grand Tour? How many people would have thought at the end of 2004 that Damiano Cunego would never even realistically threaten to podium again? After the 2005 Giro, who'd have thought that less than four years later Rujano would be back in Venezuela with his tail between his legs and nobody at the pro level willing to offer him a contract?

Hell, how many people would have thought at the 2002 Giro that it would have taken Cadel Evans another nine years to win a Grand Tour? How many, after watching the 2003 Vuelta, would have imagined that nineteen years later, that fresh-faced kid from Murcia on the podium would still be one of the elites of world cycling, but only won one Grand Tour in two whole decades at the top?

...and how many people at the 2008 Giro, if told that, besides Contador, three other riders on that startlist would go on to win the Tour de France, would have picked out the 28-year-old who finished 173rd, 126th, 141st, 99th, 140th and 135th in the main mountain stages as one of them?

My head is just spinning from all those inquiries. And who'd have thought Fignon would never have won the Tour again after his dominating 84 route? Sometimes, however, things settle into expected patterns.

Remco won more time on Rog than I thought, but less time on the others favorites.
As for MAL, he occasionally has really good TT's. Maybe a bit like Pozzovivo, hopefully nothing happens to him and he animates weekend stages.
With him and Yates, however, you never know.

Proper build up Roglic going to the Giro, I'd make the number 1 favourite, assuming RE TP and JV go to the tour.
Other than Bernal (assuming he is back to his best and decides to ease himself back in) who would be in his league (it would also allow him to win back 'his' vuelta crown).

He can feasibly target Giro and then stages at the Vuelta and Lombardia and be a strong favourite for that.

Or else just go all out for the Vuelta and the hilly classics in a season and be a favourite there.

Tbh I won't be totally shocked if Pogacar has won his last Tour.
I know it seems like a harsh thing to say, but with Vingegaard, Evenepoel perhaps Ayuso and Rodriguez, one can never know.
Nothing would surprise me at this point.

How much time did Almeida lose due to his brainfart? 25s?
20 seconds easily, still without his mistake he would still lose to Mas!! I’m simply shocked!!! Something wrong with UAE regarding chrono preparation if you ask me. Not trying to justify Almeida’s error, because he’s 100% responsible for that but, shouldn’t the DS in UAE car be giving navigation instructions to the rider?

The chances of that are extremely high if he decides to go to TdF again. However if he goes the Giro-route, they should be somewhat decent that he wins another one.
