Vine literally won a stage out of the peloton, which included every rider in this Vuelta, it does not get higher class than that within a race.
He certainly surprised a lot of people, including me and the GC favorites. I think in that situation, had they known he'd be that strong, they would not have let him go or at least tried to go with him. I don't think they will make that mistake again though. Nevertheless, on stage 6 the only two that might have been able to follow him were Mas and Evenepoel, who climbed at a similar pace.

The final climb showed me that the mountain domestics in this Vuelta are only average - The GC group only took 2 1/2 minutes from the break on a 20km climb.
Yeah well, we are talking piss poor Rohan Dennis, Chris Harper, a super mediocre Carlos Verona and a few controlling QS-riders. This is quite bad. Only ones who really can shake it up are the likes of Soler for Ayuso, Tao for Rodriguez and potentially Valverde for Mas, but Valverde and Movistar have decided to try to keep Valverde as high in the GC for points.

Mads Pedersen apart, the official top three of sprinters in this race is Marc Soler, Samuele Battistella, and Remco Evenepoel. I wish him no harm, but if anything were to happen to Pedersen, we could have the most ridiculous green jersey competition ever.

I think Sean Kelly nailed it when he said that today Vine was in a break with a different class of riders.

Not that his second win was against some weak break riders. Taaramae, Pinot, Soler, wasn't it Landa as well (although he looks horrible)..
Not much worse than Carapaz, Kelderman, Polanc, Gesbert, Brenner...
As for his first stage win, he attacked from the peloton and still held off Remco.

I think it has more to do with the heat(?) and being mid GT than the class of the break.

Good points, though I think it probably has more to do with young rider, lacking a huge base of form, has good days and bad days.

Find someone who looks at you like Valverde looks at Mas

Congratulations to Richard Antonio Carapaz Montenegro for winning the stage.

Considering how much he suffered during 99% of the climb. It's hard to imagine what it took to make that final move. Where on earth did he find the energy. Polanc did good today. As for GC battle. Evenepoel crashing but it looks like nothing serious. He was stress tested by the bunch. JV rode smart and burned the matches early. When that still had an effect. JV can't help Roglič higher up the hill. He hence needs to use the team before that. And try to make a difference. Higher up the hill making alliances with some other riders is still possible. Best to focus on that. Mas after attacked to see the response. Evenepoel didn't show much weakness today. QS performed rather good. Still Evenepoel could be isolated while there was still plenty of climbing left. The same tactics likely to be used on stage 14. Likely some extra ideas to be explored. To put Evenepoel under more difficulty. Likely involving some form of chasing.
