I thought it was the wheel sucking and the squeaky voice that made everyone dislike Evans.
It was more that because Evans was already disliked, him being worried about people hurting his dog (accidentally) was laughed at as Evans being highly strung and throwing a tantrum and used as ammunition by his detractors.
How do you know 'not being an a-hole' is the level of niceness he reaches?

Look, I now get why you were so vocal in your criticism of Sagan. I thought and think it was over the top but there were obviously undesirable personality traits here and I understand why they were necessary to highlight in a world where almost everybody loved him.

But here, you're honestly just digging a hole.
It's not about my saying that that's the level of niceness he reaches. In fact I've said very little commentary on Sepp himself and how he's handled himself in the last few days.

It's about the fact that he is being presented as an absolute Mary Poppins, gaining effusive praise for any act no matter how minor. Like I say, we have people showing videos of him doing trivial things like letting somebody else ride in the front seat of the car and commenting on it as this great act of kindness as though he'd just saved a dozen disabled children from a burning building.

It was very smart and easy PR by Sepp, he knows Roglic loves nothing more than to sit right behind him, preferably at the speed of a traffic jam

Well yes, if you edit out the rest of the sentence that includes qualifying statements it will be
It would be a very very very large task to whitewash the sheer insanity of your history of posts regarding Sepp; it's hilarious seeing you trying to present yourself as some objective voice of reason. Again, please get the help you so desperately need before winter comes and you're off on your "Hate Jessie Diggins" arc with the equally loony BullsFan22.

What part of "in the last few days" is ambiguous?

Overall, I have seen much worse races than this one. Stage 6 to Javalambre was a very good, and the stage to Tourmalet was even better. Outside of that no outstanding stages, but Xorret de Cati gets a plus for being fought out by the best riders, Arinsal as well (even though it was a defensive race) and stage 16 was just weird, but still somewhat entertaining, and the stage to Angliru got raced like a stage to Angliru should.

More bad stages than good stages, but oh well.

It's not about claiming they're lying. It's about the copious and effusive praise of what a great guy he is for simply not being an absolute a-hole. Like I said before, compare the treatment Cadel Evans got in 2008 for looking out for his dog. And simple things like letting somebody else sit in the front seat of the car is being met with comments like "he's too good for this world" as though it's some great altruistic act.

In the Sepp thread you've even got a couple of posts by people for whom he's their favourite rider saying the media presentation of him has been ridiculous.
That’s essentially the problem with the glorification of any athlete for anything except their performance. And it’s probably worse when the characterization is so one-sided positive. It makes athletes into 2D cutouts.

Some folks here probably have known Sepp personally and can vouch for what he’s like. Which seems worth listening to. For everyone else it’s just projection of our wishes and issues onto the athlete,

TBH, that kind of characterisation - and even more so said characterisation being forced so relentlessly on the audience in such a manner as to feel like a propaganda effort - is the largest part of why my dislike of Jessie Diggins spiralled from "I want people to beat her" to "I want her to go away and to never see her again." The characterisation being presented in such a heavy-handed manner as well as that narrative being pushed down my throat is something that I have a tendency to aggressively reject.

My problem with Sepp was always his racing or lack thereof. My problem with him as an individual is only about the way it has been presented and this Mary Sue characterisation has been pushed on us so aggressively in the last few days at the same time as vilifying the other two actors in the play.

Im not watching yet, please tell me its this?

Not a good picture, but this is the best I could find:
