with this wind forecast, I doubt it'll be a breakaway day. They're all weak anyway.

Where is this weak breakaway narrative coming from? Have you guys seen the Giro?

This isn't the Tour you really can't expect any better than what we got the last stages that ended/could've ended in a breakaway win.

yesterday's break was basically as strong as it can get in this Vuelta, and yet they were brought back by two Jumbo guys.

Of course, the lack of cooperation played a major part there, but I struggle to see what's supposed to be so much different today, to make it a breakaway day.

Actually it's usually in the Tour where the breaks don't make it because every team has a sprinter. So you get like 10+ sprint stages.

Break 3 days ago was even stronger.

And Jumbo to let them go? Isn't it always like this? Breaks win because the strongest team decide they can have the stage, it's always been like that. It doesn't have anything to do with the strength of the break (even tho is def doesn't help if the break is too big to have good cooperation), but with what the strongest teams want. They decide the race.

This isn't about sprint stages.

of course, if it makes sense to do so. With the rest day tomorrow and a stage easy to control, personally I don't really see that today.

And the potential breakaway riders here imo are not strong enough to stay away from a chasing peloton. That's what I meant to say.

To me it looks like the wind isn't good enough for echelons I think. 20-25 kph is about borderline, and it's either pure crosswind or pure tailwind. Don't think there's many sections where it's really cross/tail

Has Sepulveda hurt himself in his crash? Because he looks kinda sad on the podium all the time. Or is that just his normal demure facial expression and he kept his powder dry for today's stage & 1st category climb?

The rest of the group trail by 17''.

Think the wind is a lot more than strong enough if the forecasts are correct. Not sure how exposed the roads are though. It will be a very difficult, nervous day I think

First echelon should normally be way too small to make it, especially as it's an uphill finish and there's about 4 GC leaders who need to save themselves.
