I think he assumed they were being taken at the 2 Ks to go banner. Which... does seem more logical than 50 metres before the 2 Ks to go banner.

All the others, sure. I don't feel like fans really play much of a role in creating races.
Desgrange didn't create the Tour because he wanted to see who could ride away france the quickest.

yes riders should have a lot of say in the matter, but we have to accept every so often, it'll lead to organisers being a bit too proactive like today. & besides, the Giro was far worse than what we've seen so far this Vuelta.

He was actually robbed of stage win ;)

No, he would never have catched Kämna who was 3 minutes up the road in the beginning of the climb.

The finish was in the steepest part of the climb which actually suited Roglič. Nonetheless, he looked good, unlike Vingegård.

This decision of shortening the stage seems like another stupid overreaction to what happened on stage 1.

Read into joke.

My actual opinion is that Rogla had better legs and would beat him if there was race to the line. But we will never know.

Kuss is defo a Dudley boy destroying himself for his teammates
“Kuss get the CHAIRS!” Primoz Dudley
That seems a bit elegant for a guy who falls as much as him, though? Surely he's gotta use the curbstomp?
Sometimes Roglic is elegant in his falls. He could always do Starship Pain considering how much John Morrison/Nitro botched it.

They are completely free to abandon the race if the road is a teeny tiny bit too slippery for them. Nobody holds them at gunpoint

Or maybe the organisers would rather their race continues through to the end, even if it means altering minor details like where the time is taken.

The way some of you guys are acting, you'd think cycling is gonna cease to exists because of stuff like today.

If Guillen is not fired by Tuesday morning, it should be Prudhomme's head on the chopping block

I'll even take Gouvenou running the rest of the race. It cannot be worse

What’s cycling if I don’t get my 200m sprint at the end of 7km mountain :(

Your argument is literally that the race won't finish if they don't cancel it.

Just tuned in at the end to see the race was shortened to take time at 2km to go for a bit of dirt on a climb. Pathetic. Organizers and the riders that campaigned for it are to blame. This is what happens when you pull shot like the stage 2 idiocy. I assumed more nonsense like this would be happening in this race but not so soon.

This is what happens when riders are the only ones with a voice, you get no race.
There needs to be agreements made to prevent this from happening again or getting worse.

Claiming that other people are being overdramatic when you are pretending the alternative to what Unipublic did here is cancelling the race completely is absolutely hilarious.

I doubt the riders had much say in the decision or the organisers, seeing the neutralisation happened during the stage - It would heve been the team directors.

The riders didn't even have to campaign for it. The organisers rolled over and gave in to the riders' demands before they even held a meeting to plan out what their demands were going to be.

The only riders that can feasibly have been involved are the riders' representatives - people like Adam Hansen of course, hence the memeing - and ex-riders who are now in team cars.

So are there already images of the so called muddy roads in the descent or do they not exist?

It‘s true, if they have another dangerous finish, Evenepoel will text Lappartient: Show the world who is the strongest and Lappartient will use his button and cancel the Vuelta.
