Teams will control it keep it to 90 seconds to 2 minutes before the climb, so that those teams who have break ambitions can bridge across.

DeMarche should be riding on the front of the peleton to control the break to support his team's climbers. It seems pointless for him to be in the middle of nowhere.

It's not like people didn't try. AG2R just turns out to be quite strong, and can actually control the breakaway formation pretty well.

The big problem for the break was Bora was trying to get a rider in the break which resulted in AG2R closing it down or a bigger break would have gone earlier.

I dont understand why teams who wanted to win from the break are not controlling,. to keep the gap close enough, so their riders can bridge across on the next climb.
