Wout van Choke throws away another victory.
Back in the day we had Moncoutié who did absolutely nothing all year except for winning the polka dots and a few stages in la Vuelta. It surprises me how there isn't a sprinting equivalent of him yet, because you can just sleepwalk yourself to grand tour stage winner status. A rider genre Bauhaus for example should just do a yearly Vuelta super peak, acquire a monopoly on the sprint stages and go down a legend. The biggest rival you'll see on average is Arne Marit.
Ah, the Degenkolb special. Still managed to lose to Sbaragli.

The drop from teams of 9 to 8 was on the grounds of safety (176 riders rather than 198), so there would be an amount of humble pie in increasing that back to 192. And two extra sets of cars in the fleet as well, when there has been much argument about the need to reduce that number. (Counterargument: they accommodate cars for 25 teams in the classics)

really, it was for safety? I've always seen it framed as it being done to reduce the strength of teams.

James Knox yellow card!

Don't know exactly what he's done yet, could have sworn at someone, could've gone full-Superman who knows.

This race doesn't draw a lot of crowds, i don't think i have seen so few people in a grand tour since Corona

Nice to see a new rider getting a GT stage win, Bittner's sprint was really good.

Groves missed his sprint timing once again while Van Aert messed up his bike throw.

Küng getting fifth shows how poor the sprinters field is.

Great pick! What were the odds?
Nothing odd, but maybe I should betbon somewere if possible. It wanst the main favourite. I watched him to win at Treviño live and I have quite clear he would win today, but couse was really flat, the end and in gebneral the stage.

So did Bittner in the head on video although he didn't double-clutch the bike throw. Was that slightly uphill? Either way the DS's job is to scout that stuff so there isn't a surprise. It's not like someone from the team can't walk that last km and call back to the team.....
Was thinking the same thing—and to
Mention “remember there’s another white line on road just before finish line.”
