Another strong ride by Almeida. He needs his own team. He can compete in the TdF.
To get 3rd stop at best? We all know very well TdF is just another level and Tour Jonas is dropping everyone except Pogacar easily, breaking climbing records.

Almeida is no match to prepared Jonas, not even mention Pogacar with his mutant PdB performance.

UAE winning half the stages so far, what a crazy stat. Hope Soler works solely for Almeida from now on.

The headwind made the final climb a bit underwhelming. Hindley showed once again that his shape is on the rise and will probably finish third overall. Almeida and Vingegaard seemed very close to each other.

I think Red Bull can be the key to opening up the race, if they start riding a little differently.

If they let Pellizzari off the leash it forces Gall and Pidcock into action, which again forces Almeida and Vingegaard to react.

All the crap about Jonas being a coward or afraid to attack is so moot

Anyone can see he cant ...He has attacked plenty of times at the Tour and against a better rider in Pog
Plenty of times is a glorious exaggeration. He was borderline guilty of SA for the amount of time he spent staring at Pogacar's bum.

It's even more than half because the Bilbao stage shouldn't count.

You posted the defence before anyone had made the claim today, which seems rather "defensive" if you ask me :p

Well, which is better for a rider's career: Being on the podium at the Tour de France, or being a superdomestique on the winning team at the Tour de France?

I really don't understand Vingegaard's defensive riding here. Of course he's in the lead but not by that much, if he attacks and gains some more time that would ease off a lot of pressure if he has a bad day later on. It feels a bit like watching a football team defending their 1-0 lead halfway into the game, which rarely ends well.

Of course if he doesn't feel well then it's good to just defend, but I don't know if that's actually the case.
If his situation is like he has explained it himself, then it makes sense.

But I agree with your comparison. Although even in such football matches, what looks to be a defensive strategy may often just be the consequence of being up against a stronger opponent.

For defensive ride, I don't understand why Visma doesn't include Kuss in the breakaways. The same goes for Bora with Pellizzari.

great win also for the Spanish haters of Soler on twitter
He did first interview in Spanish, they showed a rolling graphic of all his milestones and wins, guys asks Soler to switch to English, he did but was so happy inside and couldn't express it in English so he switched back to Spanish..
Super happy for the guy.
Win or lose Soler style is unmistakable and guy is a workhorse.. Bold or nothing.

If Visma is not going to pull the peloton their riders should enter the breakaways

The team that wants to pull puts riders in the breakaways, the one that doesn't pull doesn't put them in. The other way around.

Hindley looking better as the race goes on. He just doesn't have the sprint kick of Vingegaard and Almeida. Think Hindley might ride the final week better than Pidcock.Nice win by Soler.
