One of the most surprising wins of the seasons to me, smart riding by Gaudu.

The finish was possibly a smidge too hard for a rider like Pedersen - or his train gave out too early - but him giving Gaudu the inside in the last corner is his mistake to own.

Gaudu is on equal time with Vingegaard, who keeps the leaders jersey by virtue of being 41st on Stage 1 - where Gaudu was 49th :D

GC ist done for this Vuelta I feel. Gaudu and Vingegaard seem to be on similar form like 2,5 years ago and we all know the Frenchmen COOKED the fish easily back then in Paris Nice.

Now that he's found his form, I don't see a way back for Vingegaard.

No, he didn't. He just didn't follow any of Pogačar and Vingegaard's attacks on the deciding stage and therefore didn't cook himself.

For me the bigger mistake is making the finish as hard as you can when you want your sprinter to beat the climbers.
That was part of the misjudgement, in their heads they were trying to tire out people like Aular who probably beat Pedersen in a flat sprint and ignored/underestimated the possibility of climbers winning.
