I haven't ridden my bike in like 10 days because it's always over 37º. I'd need to get up at 8 am to go for a proper ride, but I lack the determination.

Here we only get wind and rain and never get a chance to ride in the sun.

I think the double face palm had maybe more to do with this not being the place for your sermon.

If people are going to spout gibberish about how we should learn from the success of cycling in Kazakhstan, it's not particularly pious to point out what that success is built on. Much as if someone was to start droning on about the wonders of Franco-era Real Madrid on a football forum.

The Astana cycling team is a vanity project backed by a very unpleasant regime, which does things like put lawyers in prison if they represent striking workers. That's not really the kind of model for "popularising cycling" that we should be hoping to see more places follow.
