I hope the wink means that you know that British athletes don't have to be English;)

I know, but when Andy Murray would win Wimbledon he's British, but if he loses he's a Scot :)

And England is still the dominating part of Great Britain. Hence it's funny when all their greatest sport athletes come from everywhere but England.

Sounds like Philippe Gilbert, who's alternatingly a Belgian and a Walloon.

Actually, never seen him get called a Walloon by the mainstream media in Belgium. There's a Flemish identity in Belgium, but a Walloon identity doesn't really exist or it's a lot smaller. Certainly not comparable to the identity the Scots and Wales have established over the centuries.

I see you know your UK newspaper talk. I remember about 5 years back when England was going through a bad patch in sport. There was an end of year review by a journalist in the Guardian stating that it was the worst year since they lost to Scotland 4-0 (or something like that) at soccer, but there were two bright lights on the horizon, Beth Trimble (a gymnast) and Nicole Cooke (who had won the World Cup that year). Unfortunately, I think he was being serious.

Have to admit that they are doing a bit better this year though.

- I think Rodriguez is going to be tough to beat. He seems to be in a league of his own so far though will neeed to do something tonight imo.
- Nibali was very disaapointing,He couldn't really afford a loss like that even with an itt coming up as Rodriguez could take a fair bit of time out of him.
-Good to see Anton is back. Hopefully this will continue
-Good to see BMC attacking and making the race. It will pay off and that's what they should of been doing throughout the 1st week.

Hope ACF is sleeping by now.. :p

I was watching. Kohler's and Frank's attacks were good although one of them needed to be in the break as the climb was too punchy for Mathias and Kohler is too big.

Can someone please tell Matt Keenan that it is the Vuelta a Espana not the Volta a Espana? He says it every single year.

Nice work by JROD. Unexpected after crash. Expected from Nibali after crash. JVDB still mightily consistent, Anton clawing his way up and Fuglsang showing good form Scarponi is starting to get into good form now i think.

jrod was always going to be in a league of his own in these finishes.

Great ride by JRod. Respect.

He still needs a fair bit more time if he is to be considered a contender for overall .... but winning stages is a great way to get it :)

Scarponi is looking good. Especially if Nibbles is feeling the effects of the crashes .... so my prediction of Scarponi, Nibali and JVDB is looking ok I think.

Since when was this Machado territory? Tomorrow is more for him, and the ITT should be of use to him. La Manzaneda might suit him best of what remains.

yes i know this climbs don't suit him, but it would help if he could place somewhere higher on the peloton. he just can't start a climb with an half position if his life was on the line. plenty of guys who are as good as him on this type of finishes limited their losses over the climb with a better placement, he was 5 guys in front of kloden who was closing the peloton when the climb started . . .

placement is crucial, of course it isn't so easy to get up there, battling for positions is pretty tough I believe.

I would have preferred Kruijswijk to be placed a little better also. I am not sure he is so great on this finish either.

Anyway, good to see Machado still up there I guess.

Good stage, I enjoyed it at least. Though Moncoutie would have made more of an effort after all the work Taaramae did. A lapse in judgment too from Poels I think. Would have liked to have seen how well he'd have done if he didn't waste energy trying to attack before the climb.

Moreno was more absent than on stage 5 but JRod still way too dominant. Scarponi showing form for tomorrow (or today now :p ) !
