He did this last year during the Tour, the same stage when Contador crashed, again with Martin. He finished 4+ minutes behind Nibali, if my memory serves me right. So don't hold your breath for a victory from Kwiatowski.

But they attacked from very far out that day. Today it was only something between 15 and 20 kilometers. You can't compare these situations.

At that time he did it with 50 k to go and bonked completely. Even if he will be caught by Quintana, Henao and Purito, he will still have minimised his time loss A LOT because of this move.

Good strategy by QS and Kwaitowiski, but I can't believe Purito, Henao, and Quintana let that happen... It was obvious that QS was going to try this once Toni Martin joined the break... They had tried the same thing yesterday
