Kwiatowski bridging to the front group with his teammates!
He did this last year during the Tour, the same stage when Contador crashed, again with Martin. He finished 4+ minutes behind Nibali, if my memory serves me right. So don't hold your breath for a victory from Kwiatowski.

He did it from further away on less suited terrain.

But they attacked from very far out that day. Today it was only something between 15 and 20 kilometers. You can't compare these situations.

Edit: virtual leader now.

Close to 40 seconds!!!

This roads also make chasing much harder so this could really work if Martin still has enough in the tank for a big pull until the last climb

At that time he did it with 50 k to go and bonked completely. Even if he will be caught by Quintana, Henao and Purito, he will still have minimised his time loss A LOT because of this move.

36 secs to the peloton from Kw(a)iato
Sky + Movistar + Katusha vs Tony Martin + Kwiatowski
Who's your favourite? I think they will be caught, but it will be tight.

Good strategy by QS and Kwaitowiski, but I can't believe Purito, Henao, and Quintana let that happen... It was obvious that QS was going to try this once Toni Martin joined the break... They had tried the same thing yesterday

Martin is a machine! Two days in a row in the breakaway and still they can't reel him in. What a ride from Panzerwagen. :)
