I can only imagine with how many minutes Purito would've won Vuelta 2012 if he had a Sky team with him.
He couldn't drop contador in the high mountains... so he would have won seconds in those muritos

Remember the stage when Uran, Henao bought Froome back to Purito and Valverde, Froome attacks which brings Purito and Valverde to life and Contador is caught afer he seemingly was going to win stage

To be fair, he did have Dani Moreno with him on many occasions where he was in trouble, but yeah..

He wasn't in trouble on many occasions. He was in controll that whole Vuelta. Only on Fuente De he wasn't. And on that particular day, his whole team (apart from Losada) had an off-day.
There were a few occasions, where he was slightly left behind but he had Moreno to ride him back. Like on the stage to La Gallina. But yeah, he was the best climber that Vuelta.

Man how do you guys find it in you to cheer for anyone other than Contador? The man is relentless. Not sure it'll pay off for him, but someone might gain from his smart decision to try to hurt and isolate the leader who showed weakness and signs of fatigue yesterday.
This one million times. Sometimes I wonder why some fans like sky and don't like contador... i love show and contador is a showman, in the other hand, sky is boring as hell

I was never a Contador fan, even disliked him strongly for a couple years as a rider, but seeing him like this really makes me wonder what he could've done in all those Tours he kept crashing out of had he stayed healthy...

Have to say, I disliked him back in 09 & 10, and as much as I gained respect for him at Fuente De, it was at the expense of Purito

But the way he rode at the 2014 Tirenno in particular was what rly changed my feelings towards him, and I never thought I'd say this six years ago, but I will certainly miss Alberto in the peloton

There was a time, not so distant, when Sky wasn't there.
