Walsh is such a joke, should just shut the *** up

I'm certainly not going to make the mistake and read any of the UK's media coverage of the Tour from now on.

I only have one image that is apropriate for King Skeleton ripping up the fields and it's seen as normal.

That's hilarious. All the times Armstrong demolished the field on the first day... Man the Tour organizers just doesn't know what they are doing.

au contraire....all publicity is good.

Walsh asks?
David Walsh @DavidWalshST
@EHP8 Big Poppa Froome and Sky around for a while, where is Swart, Andreu, O'Reilly, Mike Anderson, LeMond, Dr Ferrari figure in background?

Well did he not see Dr Leinders, Yates, Jullich, Barry, De Jongh, Knaven etc etc.............crazy. He must be getting big bucks(or maybe just keep his job at ST) to ignore the bleeding obvious.

Maybe these geezers don't have anything to say because there is no dirt with SKY

Well, when LeMond heard Armstrong was working with Ferrari he gave the famous quote, does that not apply when he hears TeamSky have hired an equally dubious Doctor?

The rest were all hired after year 1 failure. That screams dirt!

Doping aside, I think the guy has a point.
My interest in watching future stages dropped every time I saw one team leader after another get shelled out the back.
I know the point of the thread is Walsh is ignoring the obvious. But it was almost sad to see one team leader after another get dropped by domestiques less than half-way up the climb on day one in the mountains.
Tour organizers are probably wondering how much money they're going to lose in future due to lack of viewership after today's debacle.

during the giro Walsh had no problem casting doubts about Astana. It's depressing that this clown can call himself a journalist.

agreed.

walsh has a serious zproblem though.
froome is too ffing obvious, and walsh has very vocally supported the guy, in public and in writing.
at some point he's going to have to admit there's something fishy here.

ASO cant predict how the Tour will pan out. They probably thought Quintana and other climbers would take back time today they lost in TTT etc.....dont think anyone in ASO expect FroomeMachine to blow everyone away 1st MTF. Too obvious!

sceptic:
I agree that walsh is part of the problem, but not a big one.
I long ago accepted that drugs will always be part of pro sports, but I think the teams need to get together and put a stop to the *** we saw today.
If that means forming a union and coming to a secret agreement about what is accepted, then so be it. But I'm sure the sport's higher ups must be able to see that the way the sport is currently being run can't last.
People will eventually tune out.

people wont tune out as long as it is entertaining, sadly! Look at amercian pro wrestling, so popular and why? so fake? because it is entertaining!!!!!

Bennoti:
If Tour organizers can't predict how the race will play out, how can you say they thought Quintana would gain back time today against Sky?
Sky is a team that seems completely out of control; and you're right--stage prep isn't going to stop them from utterly dominating wherever and whenever they can. That is completely obvious.
Reminds me of when Armstrong was so charged up that he put a minute into Jans on the opening day prologue/time trial. His team was obviously so drunk with power that they didn't give a rats ass how it would look.
I guess I'm trying to suggest maybe it's time to look at other ways to look at doping.

ASO dont care much for doping. If it affected viewing figures then maybe they would do something about it. Heck Festina are using Virenque to flog watches on TV during the Tour. That tells us all we need to know about the money men. Lots will continue to watch now to see if any more mutant attacks happen.....The 2012 TdF was a snore fest. Sky repeated it in 2013 and now again in 2015. Does ASO care? Nope would be my guess. They work with the figures that mean money. The race itself is really inconsequential as long as it continues day after day. The doping is all part of the fabric for ASO.

p.s. Benotti:
Forgot to mention that I often take a different angle on where you're coming from, one thing I've always agreed with is your stance regarding JV.
Seems to me he's always tried to beat Lance at his own game, but in an even more conniving way. JV is smart; Lance isn't stupid, but he was always thinking about himself.
Anyway point being is the current structure is in my opinion not entirely sustainable.
I get your reference to wrestling, but how many parents encourage their kids to become pro wrestlers?
In order to maintain a sport whereby you've got parents encouraging their kids coming up the system, you need to at least maintain the impression that's it done on the up and up. You can't have scenes like we saw today and are likely to see during the rest of the Tour.

JV is more than smart he is devious.

Well the Yanks have more than enough wanting to be pro wrestlers, half the population would do anythign to get on tv.

You just have to look at the sport of rugby(union) and its rise in popularity (espcially in Ireland) and the kids being told to bulk up if they want to do well. Major problem, but parents are pushing their kids and are part of the problem.

I remember in Italy in 2011 seeing a 10/11/12 year old out training on his bike while an adult (his Dad i presumed) rode on a scooter just behind, during school hours.
