What are these mysterious pills found on the roadside at Paris-Roubaix?

Contained in a vial, and accompanied by a label that included a barcode and the word “test” on it, these pills picked up on the roadside following a crash in Sunday’s Paris-Roubaix have become a talking point on Twitter.

Simple solution is to test them. Then pass on the tests results to media (preferably the likes of Kimmage), the UCI, AFLD, WADA and make the results public.

Sounds like a plan to me.

As for the Wiggo shot
1) he didn't rip his jersey in a crash
2) wrong size/shape

That the label says 'test product' makes me think these are pills not yet available as they are still undergoing tests. So will not be on a WADA list yet.

Seems some riders dont mind being human test subjects. :(

If anyone is on twitter, please ask them to get them tested and release the results and also ask where the crash happened and what riders/teams were involved in the crash.

I was just discussing this in Twitter. They look like salt/sodium pills, but in small capsules. The weird things are:

1) why are they capsules within the capsule? two dosages?
2) Why store them in a vial? I mean, a ziplock bag or something similar makes more sense to me. Less "drug" reference
3) Who takes pills to the biggest one day race of the calendar, stores them in a vial and calls them "test product"? I mean, call them anything but that. Caffeine, Salt, Sodium, Tylenol with Codine, etc... "Test Product"? moron

Benotti... Why don´t you go to twitter, try to arrange something with those guys, and make sure those things get tested?
You are one of the few who think every hope is lost and gone. Now it´s your golden chance to make your war against doping behind the keyboard into a real one.
This is not meant negative (I am serious), but I think you have the enthusiasm.... be a next Walsh.

I have also commented on cycling weekly which they will no doubt read.

Dont want to be the next Walsh, that would make me a hypocrite.

S0 would beg to differ.

Any pharmacological substance which is not addressed by any of the subsequent sections of the List and with no current approval by any governmental regulatory health authority for human therapeutic use (
e.g drugs under pre-clinical or clinical development or discontinued, designer
drugs, substances approved only for veterinary use) is prohibited at all
times.

Yes, but the actual drug will not be actually named. While it will be a banned substance, the name is probably not on WADA's list yet but will come under the above.

:eek:That's too cruel man. I'm all for a good joke, but this is crossing the line:p

On topic: Somebody have information about what particular crash we are taking about? Or which riders who could be involved? Obviously all who crashed, but more precise information could narrow it down.

Agree - but can they test for it?

Ahh yes - lets post a pic of Brad just for good measure, even though there is no way to connect the earlier pic with this one.

So was Brad involved in that crash at PR?

You know... "The Sceptic"... Sky was bringing all the bad to the world, so he had to bring this pic. Every clinic thread on cycnews is Sky related... at least in his POV.
SSDD... it´s getting tired.

I agree and its why my sig is as it is - just because you keep saying something doesn't make it true...

Assuming the source is correct, (that they came from a riders jersey) then I strongly suspect they're somehow "legal".

There's no way a rider would take a jar of doping products along for the ride at PR, I mean really ? Could someone be that dumb

Hence I'm leaning towards legal stuff or they didn't come from a rider. (spectator or staff instead)

I´d have no problems if guys like sceptic and redflanders would have a reasonable straight forward approach like Benotti or Hog (who think that basically everybody in the high ranks dope. It´s a fair point after all those scandals). But no, they just hack away the same old song, mixing it with personal insults, but zilch infos, reasonable arguments or evidence... It´s not anti doping thinking, but "your doper is worse than mine".
"Redflanders" honestly confirmed his love for CH, even though he thinks he´s doping. And for sceptic all is good as long the so-called Skybots get bested. No matter who that is or with which methods that goal is achieved. It ends in grotesque ideas that Sky started a doping arms race anew, and that CH had to dope upfront before Sky even hit the scene.

Anyway, now I think we shall get back to the topic... :)

Who checks riders pockets? FFS look at Wiggins blatantly shoving a pill inside his shorts.

If the pills are 'test products' and therefore not able to be tested for why not?

If you are leaning towards legal stuff, what do you suggest it is? Tramadol or similar?

Well perhaps I'm giving pros too much credit but it just can't believe someone would be stupid enough to do that - especially in PR where there are so many crashes that there's a significant chance contents of your jersey are going to spill in front of thousands of fans and cameras ....

Also what kind of doping products would you actually take mid-race and not before the start ?

I have no idea what legal stuff it could be, could be energy gels are now in pill form. :p

Edit: Not to mention the size of the tube and the number of pills is hardly discreet ....

Yes, you should. Your characterization of my thoughts is beyond idiotic. Why you feel the need to pull my name into this discussion is beyond me.

I doubt it is legal when the label reads 'test product'.

'Finish bottles' are a big thing in the peloton according to Phinney.

Hard to judge the true size of the tube due it not being photographed in someones hand (for example)!
