Must have been going through customs in UK about a hundred times. Not once stopped. Can't really say if I traveled with something they didn't like, but I was never bothered by the process. It was just a another day at the supermarket.

I go through Customs at the Channel Tunnel outside Folkestone around 6 times a year, I get stopped about 4 times a year. This is for a fairly routine test where they run a device over your steering wheel and door handles. When I ask they say it's to test for drugs and explosives. Coming back from France I haven't been stopped as often, but I normally see others stopped and searched, commonly it's white vans where there's a suspicion of smuggling cigarettes.

I just hope that since this went public quickly, the results come back quickly to dismiss speculation.

The Clinic would have to shut down without gossip, innuendo and speculation! Just like dopers the Clinic feeds off of tabloid sleaze.

I think the emphasis should be on 'students', then their profession. Students are known for pranks, and given their subject, they would have access to certain kit, that's all.

So no personal attack, subtle or otherwise. I have no issue with this being something nefarious, however I don't hope it is, unlike you it seems since you're trying to concoct some strange motive for me to discredit this. I'm merely positing the unlikely nature of this, as others including Hitch have noted.

Without a doubt there is a wide range of possibilities. But, you are still trying generate doubts about the guy in the story with the bolded and that's very poor reasoning.

Trying to denigrate the person in the story by calling him a student and a prankster when the information about who the person is, shows how little some people want to dig........

Even so as he's a veterinary anaesthatist by trade, you could always say you'd tried to get something from the horse's mouth.

The riders jersey is clearly ripped to shreds, certainly enough to have damaged the vial to such an extent.

Or not.

I don't think we know that this photo is the right one. The original statements included reference to several (or more than 1) rider going down. This looks quite solo. I don't see another rider around and it looks like he just fell.

I would hold off 'till we know more.

I think the story perfectly fits in in the "marginal gains" concept.
Riders wanted to gain some fees on the margins of their wages, so they've applied for the research and became testing subjects.
On a serious note, as far as I could see the case lacks the substance.
No firm evidence of ownership and absolutely unreliable evidences due to questionable handling.
It's just the way to keep the story about the race in circulation.

?? This is doping controversy, not really anything positive about the race.
Who's saying it has to be positive?
And the doping is pure speculation.
So, no controversy.
... Just Roubaix afterparty.

This is controversy....is there some speculation in there? Yes, but it's still controversy....This is not the type of attention race organizers want PR to have.

Artificial controversy, if you already insist.
It's not like the authorities have found the vials in the velodrome showers or locker rooms, teams' trash or luggage. Collected them according to a procedure and sent to the laboratory.
Just a fan's picture story.

Just a fan's picture story.

And the vial itself.

I can send you a vial if you're interested.

What in the world are you trying to say?

You said it's artificial controversy....stating all they have is the fan's pictures. I'm simply saying they also have the vial. I'm not saying that a banned substance is in that vial. I'm just saying there is more to this issue than just pictures - There is a vial with an unknown substance in it.
