nibali is 26 aswell. . . . . and no1 is saying he will be the next big thing. but already is and will be for the next years one of the top contenders for GT's.

also so far machado hasn't proved anything in terms of GT's, so putting him on the same list as gesink, nibali and schleck is just blind fanboyism.

and correct me if i am wrong here, isn't nibali the only active rider under 30(besides contador) that has won a GT?

and?

Maybe next big thing put it wrongly. Maybe nxt major Tour contender would be more appropriate. AC is obviously the end goal and im already counting Schleck as already there. I guess what im trying to say is that he will be the number 3 GC guy and hopefully he can close they gap on the top 2 guys.

yes you are right.

until the start of this giro, I didn't like the guy. I never thought that he was that good, really. I was tremendously wrong. he is amazing. there's no one besides samu like him in the descents, and he is really smart! he really knows himself now! I bet that the same 2010 vuelta happened this year, even with anton at his max, they wouldn't stand a chance to this nibali.

i wouldn't be surprised if he beats andy next year. however, contador... that's legend being born. we are watching it. I hope CAS don't stop him, because in the road, no one can.

Ah, one of the tricksy polls where you can see how everyone voted. And at least one prominent forum member voted twice. I'm not playing. Loyal Contador fans have already had two great days, with a prospect for more over twelve great stages. I'm not putting negative energy out there, and certainly not wishing bad things to happen to a guy who's putting on a show. Enjoy the race.

By the way, don't you think that putting the idea out there of a rider crashing at this particular Giro, and having others vote for it as a possibility, is in really poor taste? Think back a week and consider how you'd feel if you had a poll like this for another rider.

you can only vote once but you can vote for multiple options so i voted for the one my head was telling me to (CAS) and for the one my hear was telling me to( nothing)

if you meant me then ty for calling me a prominent forum member <3

please.. you are, at least, overreacting.
a crash is just a possibility, a real one, not a wish, at least to "normal" people.
i don't understand you here.

in fact, that's the only way were I can see Contador losing. what does it have to do with taste?

Certainly Nibbles appears to be developing right.
Rode a mature ride up Etna. So did Kreuziger in fact.

As for beating AC, baring mishap I can't see it happening.

I agree with pretty much all your saying except i would still be very surprised if he could match AS nxt year. The casualness of his descent this year was majestic literally with no trying he gained what 15 secs on most of the riders he entered the descent with. Very impressive.

very surprised if he could match andy next year? well.. he his an awesome descender, knows himself, good TTer, solid climber.

do you remember 98 pantani? I can really see that next year if contador isn't there for example. andy never does nothing outside the MTF. in fact just like andy is much worse than ulle in the TT, nibali is much better than marco was at it, so.. I wouldn't be surprised at all..

hell.. maybe I am really expecting and wishing it if contador isn't there.
still there's samu this year :)

I'm not totally against the idea of nibbles beating him just feel schleck will have too much going to much on the mountains.

Lo Squalo is not even close to Marco...

i am pretty sure he knows its just an expression. what he means is: untill when will members of this forum pretend that the crash of WW was such a life changing experience that the simple mention of the word "crash" will remind them of the sad incident and ruin their day

if you read properly you will see that he was talking about their ITT. we all know that pantani wasn't exactly good and when he was good on a itt heavy clinic material was involved. other then that i dobut c&cfan thinks nibali is a better rider/climber then pantani

me having 2 goes on a forum member i like in 1 post. yay for me :p

Is an expression ;)

are you being sarcastic? if you are not, leave the bottle :D I know that it is a expression, but what is the problem about the option "crash"?

please.. that's pathetic. "crash" is maybe the only in-cycling thing that can work. it happens (all the time), unlike someone being stronger than alberto (until now).

but I will say it again. that's not respect for someone, that's just being pathetic. no one is saying "the only option is alberto dying in a crash".

----------------------------

about nibali, I think that it was pretty clear..
andy is an worse TTer than Ulle.
nibali is better TTer than marco.

I'm not THAT touched for that crash but I know that some ppl is... in this kind subjects is always better to be careful when you are going to say something... OFC a crash is something that could take out Alberto from winning this Giro but Wouter's crash being so recently is hard to talk about it...

Yep I missed the part where He talks about the TT... I always got pretty excited when We are talking about Marco

Its not much of a mafia if its just 2 of you posting smileys to eachother.

We are somewhere around a year to the day that the Dutchies launched their operations by taking a Rabo domestique with no future, and tipping him for every race. World Champs, Tour, didnt matter.
Any new cycling fan coming here to see who to bet on was putting 10 grand on Bauke Mollema to win the tour and every stage thats in it.

Your guys career seems to be going in the same direction based on his giro performance;)

Carve out some sort of personality for him. If you want to take the step from being the Porto prat partners into the portugese mafia you need something to go on. Thats why every attempt to create another mafia, Belgian, ozzie, etc has failed. You need to be hijacking every thread with this new machado meme. I suppose Macho man had potential, but then where does that go.

Though at the risk of sounding redundant, please be original (unlike ACF);)

Not every king was called "the great".

To be fair, there may never be another cyclist as inspiring as Bauke. I fear the worst for the Portuguese Sisterhood.

I passed on the obvious choices of CAS or a crash and chose an alliance of his rivals. They'll have to ride against him and his teammates, and I don't think that it will work.

FWIW, I don't think the crash option is inappropriate, notwithstanding the tragic event of last week. Crashing is a common occurrence in this sport, fatalities are thankfully an incredibly uncommon occurrence. Think of Frank Schleck in the last Tour de France. That would end Contador's chances in a second. Although it might be a painful reminder of Wouter's death, I don't believe that the inclusion of this option is anything other than recognition of the realities of cycling races.

here's another possiblity (if this quote from CN is accurate)...
Leading up the Giro Cyclingnews spoke to a source close to Contador’s camp. They informed us that Contador wanted to use the Giro to unleash all his frustration at the sport for what he sees as the injustice handed to him. Stages, jerseys, the overall, everything was in his sights.

is it possible that he could go "red mist" trying to do too much and blow it?
To see him gain an incredible lead only to watch him struggle to keep it through the final stages with the others gaining fast would be a great finish to the Giro...
