I have thanked Bonny for her help several times in emails, and asked her to also relay my thanks to Susan and Dan.
God knows where I'd be if I didn't happen to 'know' Susan, who gave me Dan's email the last time things went wrong as recently as Feb., I believe. I even sent a reply via the 'Feedback' option on the first page for the password change. From my point of view, nothing that someone without a personal contact to CN could do worked. I checked all spam folders - I received no automated mails of any kind.
Would you be good enough to offer some explanation, Sam?
While I totally accept that it is human nature to generally prefer the known to the new, and while I have seen countless forum changes of bb formats and 'looks' on many forums since 1999, I don't recall ever having been so instantly turned off to previous changes. But, that's just my one, humble opinion, and as we all know, opinions are like small orifices, we all have one.
P.S. I see the word 'smilies' on the new post page, but I can't click it, nor do I see anything else that might lead to a selection of smilies. What am I missing?
P.P.S. There was a 'contact developers' (or similar) button on one of the pages. When I tried to use it to send a message, it opened by default in some bizarre Win8 'mail' program that I have never, and will never, use. I would assume that I am not alone in that. Is it not possible to offer users a choice of where the 'contact s/w team' link opens? For example, my original email address (now changed thanks to Bonny) runs on a POP3 server as used by most European providers, yet %$#@*& Win8 still does not support POP3, so I had to use web mail rather than having mails drop into Outlook or Thunderbird.
