What would you ask Pat McQuaid?

After McQuaids open invitation to spend a day watching the UCI operate at their headquarters I've decided to take him up on it.

One of my aims of the visit is to get a sit down interview with Pat which can be filmed and published in all its uncut, awkward silence, "no comment" glory.

This is pretty much a one time chance to get to ask him the questions people want answered but that certain journalists like to shy away from so I'm going to make the most of it.

What question(s) would you like Pat McQuaid to answer? I'll ask anything that doesn't get me beaten up by angry UCI Gnomes or arrested so feel free to let rip with the questions that have really been bugging you.

If you could post them in this discussion I'd be grateful but if you don't do the FB thing then you can post 'em here and I'll copy them onto a big list later.

Ask away!

1. Why aren't you worried about Floyd's accusations, and how can you be so sure he's lying? After all, his accusations concern Verbruggen's era mostly.

2. If you are so convinced that there was never any corruption in the UCI, why don't you actively insist on an independent external investigation, which could clear yours and the UCI's name?

Why he feals he and his cohorts can opperate with very clear conflicts of interests which in any "transparent" organisation would clearly be unaceptable.
Why does he think UCI is and should be able to maintain these conflicts?

Can you understand that accepting donations from a rider might be a conflict of interest for the UCI?

Then ask how many donations were accepted when the donation(s) happened (when it was agreed on/when the money was actually transferred), how much was donated, and what was eventually done with the money. It could be useful to collect all the statements ever made concerning the different donations. I think no one has ever been able to square all what was said. Maybe you'll succeed with some help from Fat Pat McQuack.

You should also ask some fun questions to lighten the mood and get to know the person behind the office holder. :p Some old-time favorites:
Which is your favorite gentlemen's club in Lausanne?
Between you and Hein, who is on top?
How furry have you been with the Hog?

You could ask him how can a governing body such as the UCI can both promote a sport and also police it effectively with out any conflict of interest arising.

Ask about any specific measures are in place to avoid this conflict of interest and if it is acceptable for a President of the UCI to be onstage giving his backing to a new team such a Leopard-Trek and not being there for others?

Why did you only make the Contador positive public when you discovered that German media were about to reveal the details? How long had you known about it, when was Contador (and the Spanish Federation informed) and when were the UCI going to make their announcement?

1) Where did you acquire the fascinating ability to always know what's true and what's a lie before any investigation takes place, even for accusations during periods when the UCI was not presidented by yourself?

Ask him why, when a convicted doper (such as Sinkewitz) speaks out against doping, doesn't the UCI listen to him and use the information provided to help refine the anti-doping process, instead of ignoring their revelations (and seeing them purely as bad PR)? The UCI could then help those who have helped the anti-doping authorities to regain a place in the peloton rather than hindering their return.

I agree with some of the previous posters that the guy is not worth it because of the amount BS he tends to come out with. He lies and contradicts himself so whats the point.

But maybe asking him if he would accept cash to leave his position might be worth it though.

+1
Add Manzano, Jaksche, and others who have come out, but have since been ignored by the UCI.

And ask if it is a coincidence that crowdpleasers such as Vino are allowed back in without hesitation.

I would like to ask him what he thought about all the "expert" opinions given on Internet forums.

I would expect him to be kind.

Are you going to do it "Michael Moore" style, or are you actually going to make an appointment?

If I had a FB account, I'd put down "Are you really going to let VeloCentric into UCI headquarters?"

Some good questions being raised.

As for how it's going to be done - No. There will be no Moore style turning up in a Chicken suit to 'bust' them. Although, it is tempting.

Trying to arrange a firm date at the moment that will allow an interview with McQuaid to happen.

With cameras? I would like to see him squirm as you give him some tougher questions.

That's the plan! I want to capture the stony silence and grumpy stares when he's asked questions by an upstart blogger on behalf of Forum members :)

You should document and or record your interactions with UCI, so just in case they never allow you to take Pat up on his open invite, you can do a piece on how he lied.
