What's a good camera for photo finishes?

What is your recommendation for a camera to certify the finish at races? Hopefully not a full-fledged state-of-the-art photo finish camera, but a reasonably priced one.

Do you mean a proper finishing camera system, or were you hoping to use a mainstream consumer digital camera of some kind for the job?

The races use special equipment, catch hundredths of a second. If taking photos for my own use, I would want a Canon 1D.

video camera for photo finish

I've seen mainstream video cameras (not proper photo finish video cameras) used effectively for bike races. But I don't know which ones would be suitable. The guy I saw use one said his could pick up 800 frames per second, and that was enough for a sprint finish.
