I think I will head up into the Tulare county foothills - it is supposed to be foggy and cold so we will probably start late and end with a hot drink and a pastry or two.

I rode in Palm Springs today and I swear it was the most perfect weather. 70 degrees, a mild breeze, total sunshine, clear skies... just incredible.

Yes - but you are proving to be a real cyclist :) We can only pretend and hope no one notices.

Biggest problem today was the hangover at the start of the ride and getting sunburned. Beyond that it was perfect.

Going to do at least 86-100km. I will be getting up at 4am to go riding though. For the reasons that it has been about 31-32 degrees for the last few days, and I will try and go out whilst it is a little bit cooler, the traffic around here can be a problem, and ideally you want to go out early and be home or be not far from home when the traffic gets crazy, and last but not least, I'm taking the bike into the bike shop to have my drive train replaced (I have the parts), and I want to be there first thing in the morning when he opens.

Tuesday will probably be at least 120km.

Ran up Summit Lane on Howell Mtn, Cal. Drank some incredible local product. Lots of local product and still am drinking some more...it's November.
Sunny, beautiful and the food is equal to the mood.

Hey Craig, I'm hearing you re. the heat. You reckon you got it bad on the Gold Coast though, try coming out to Goondiwindi- yesterday was 44 degrees max. on dead straight roads for miles and miles and a 20km/hr headwind. At least it's dead flat!

Would that be to the college (PUC), if so, great climb - some of the best scenery around. I spent a week there at a conference a couple of years ago and got 200 miles of riding in the evenings there. I also lived on the hill while studying for the bar exam. You are a lucky guy if that is your local ride.

I wish and am trying to make that happen. My wife works down here making wine and I visit from our native, 40 degree/rain climate. I go back tomorrow but the roads and weather are generally heaven.

TBH it is more humid then anything. At least where you live it is more of a dry heat (?).

Yeah, that's true. i'd put up with the dry heat (with minimal breeze) before i take the humidity of the coast any day of the week. somehow humidity just seems claustrophobic. having said that, somedays we get a really hot wind (out of the north west) which is not particularly pleasant, it can really suck the moisture out of you.

I put in a 100km ride in southwestern Puerto Rico with a group of about 10 riders. It was VERY windy and hot, but at least the humidity was low by our standards. Nice hard ride over rolling terrain.

6:00 a.m., in the basement, on the rollers. You guys enjoy the great outdoors a little extra, for me.

Yep, intervals on the trainer in the basement for the next week. Winter in Canada.

I have a trainer but have nothing but respect for those who regularly ride one through the winter - 10x for those who ride rollers (almost broke a wrist on them once).
