The local club has a holiday ride for tomorrow - but they want to start at 8:10 am so the cooks do not get annoyed and the football fanatics do not miss their games. As a result, we will be riding in the 40 degree range instead of the low 60s. Perhaps I can talk some sanity into a couple of riders who do not care about football and are will to put the meal off into the late afternoon...

Maybe to the supermarket if I run out of beer.

Looks like there is room for a lot of beer in that basket. Do you also get to ride past the canal to the train? It looks like a better route than the broken bottles and semi trucks I have to get past in getting out of town and in the country. Well, perhaps the truck drivers will be home watching football and eating turkey tomorrow. :)

Up at my usual time, do 40-50km, and ride to a local closed circuit, about 1.9km (included is a 1.2km loop), for about 50 minutes + 3 laps, and the pace will be between 38-40km/h which begins at 7am. It isn't a race, just one massive bunch training ride with people split up into various grades depending on ability (A-E, and I will be in B grade). I will get well over 30km in that timeframe, plus my 50, it is an easy way to do 100km. I have to do such a long warm-up ride, or otherwise I just won't ride well. And when I put the hammer down, I can destory a bunch or two.

And no, I'm not jacked.

Tomorrow: 4am, get up, eat breakfast, do 45-50km in warm-up before a crit tomorrow morning, I will probably be racing in a higher grade, so I need the miles in my legs to warm up and to make sure my legs are fresh from today's efforts (just on 100km). Do this and have a sleep in on monday morning.

The family are heading out early to go to "Gear up Girl", a women and children only bike ride in the city, and I don't open the shop till late on a Sunday so I guess I'll have to work out how to take 3-4 hours to get to work.

The decision will have to be between a trundle out on the roadie up Whickams Hill and out to the Bugle Ranges, or just to head over the range on the XC bike for some fun in the pines. Probably will go the the XC option as it's going to be windy and I'd rather than be hiding in the trees than be blown around out on an open road.

But then I could just pop up and down the range quickly and then spend two hours in a cafe...

60 mile spin on Black Friday up coast hwy. weather was 78 degrees Thursday. I expected the same Friday. Got caught out with out vest and warmers in a chilly head wind off the ocean; about a 25 degree swing. Kinda sucked really. my bad, i have not made the shift to winter mode yet mentally. didnt want to stuff my jersey pockets and paid the price

but I got the miles

I did it, and I'm a Cat 2 racer now. It was very warm and humid, and even though it was just under 1 hour of racing (50min + 3), I went through my two bidons of water. I finished towards the back of the bunch. I had bit of a hunger knock, and I spare gel, but I had no time to eat it. There was no prize money on offer since it was for the Daniel Bennett Development Fund.

For a race that attracted anywhere between 100-120 riders at least, they could of had more water for people to buy once they finished the race. I was lucky that I only live a mile away from where the crit was held. And now, I'm ****ed.

I am thinking a 60+ mile ride into the hills - I need to get a few miles in this week since it looks somewhat wet next and I am so close to the mileage goal for the year that I can practically taste it.

I am going to head into the hills again - I will be going over the 5,000 mile mark for the year (first time for that in at least 18 years).

Me, I'm going back down to the basement for stomp intervals and to clock up 700km for the month so far on the trainer (and to hit the 7000km mark for the year). I just finished watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the 2009 Paris-Roubaix while on the trainer. Now for a ton of National Geographic, BBC and David Attenborough nature DVDs for recovery and endurance rides, and cycling DVDs (LBL, Fleche Wallone, MSR and the Giro) for interval sessions. There is only so much fun you can have on a bike during winter in Canada! Oh, I miss home in Australia!

Right now I am taking a poll as to whether trainer miles count - two to one says they do.:)

I take a little relaxation ride Saturday via Punchbowl and Tantalus, possibly loop around Diamond Head if in the mood to deal with traffic.
