Hav'nt been up there for ages.
Was there a big fire there a while ago? Looks good now.

the fires were in Santiago canyon mostly and not into Silverado.
it is a narrow canyon and fire is doubly bad there if it was to happen.
sometimes boulders fall down the hill and smash a house. not good.

Did my usual hill climb with my bunch today. There were two groups on the mountain, mine and another group, and they were on the mountain before we got on it, I dropped my bunch and passed every member of the first group, bar one person who was just in front of me. I had never ridden up it so quick in my life.

Ask blackcat to what program that I am on.

Time to start the cold night riding (when will winter end?)- hopefully out tonight before the next storm system arrives.

CentralCal - It doesn't look good for us tomorrow. I was looking at the weather report and it looks like Porterville has the least chance of rain. I was thinking about riding the tour of California stage from Visalia (but porterville) to Glenville or Woody.

Congrats. I'm a borderline old head, and my longest one day ride was 87 miles. I think it took me close to six hours. I do remember it was hot like Africa that day.

Rode 101km and rode up the mountain that I hadn't done in a few years. Rose up it with Danny Clark. For a guy who is 59, he is still very strong and made me look like Santiago Botero in the Alpes and Pyrennes of the 2003 TdF.

Going down hill was a nightmare as the road was very rough and you have to take a hand off the handlesbars for a second to shake your hand, because the vibrations become too much. Then at the bottom of the climb is a stetch of road that they have dug up, and riding over it feels like iI'm doing a section of pave at Paris - Roubaix.

Danny Clark...What a gun.

South Easterly tomorrow, and sunny, so a 6:20am departure for Brighton, Victoria, down on the coast. A trip down to Mt Eliza for some short hills and then a hammerfest on the way home with the tailwind. TT bike training, around 130km all up - mostly flat.

Frozen snowmobile trails in and around Portland, Maine. Great fun if you can keep your toes warm.

Bad out there today - saw a lot of cyclists that looked like drowned rats. I am hoping for some clearing tomorrow for a ride in the afternoon out of Exeter but it is still looking iffy.

I am back to riding at night though for mileage since I just cannot stand getting on the trainer.

Tomorrow - hopefully 30 miles out Yokal Valley and into the foothills.

the 3rd shot is from the Summit in Tustin hills just above Cowan Heights. you are looking out into Peters Canyon.

Hey there. Quick question - how do you post pics if you want to use photos that are not on the web?

Save the pics to your desktop, and use tinypic (or another image hosting site) to upload. It will give you a code to plant in the text box.

On topic, I am very excited because I may finally be able to ride outside tomorrow. Temp is supposed to be 45 and the bike paths have most of the 8 feet of snow we have received since december off to the side. I can only handle so much of my trainer....

I'll be doing my staple pre-work loop, here in Central Portugal. 2 hrs, fairly flat this time of year, including a large traffic-free stretch reminiscent of Flanders or rural Lincolnshire (wintertime!). Today was a joy - big expansive skies and about 14 degrees C at about 10am!

The riding over here is great, lots of hills if you want them, coastal scenery, quiet on the roads, flat stretches, SoCAl climate..

you first upload to the web. i use Picasa, which is free. after you do your upload,
you then find the pics you want to use. then for each one, you right click 'view image' you then copy that url. then you paste it in the upload image in the
forum toolbar. it is right above where you post your comments. i hope i helped.
it is easier than it seems.

I will be riding in the snow covered deciduous forests of Denmark tomorrow. I am starting to get used to riding in the snow because we have got the coldest winter in 15 years. Quite funny if you use semi-flat tires.

On a mtb of course. My road racer is broken at the moment and the roads are covered in salt.

Mass training ride tomorrow. We have an off-road road circuit that gets used for training and crit racing 365 days a year. Every Saturday morning is the training ride which any person on a road bike is welcome to do. Riders are split into grades depending on ability, and done under crit rules (ie A grade does 1hr + 3 laps, same in the crits here etc.).

It has been going between 22-30 years, and pro's like Robbie McEwen grew up on such training rides. And I help organise it.
